Join nowIs there a way to filter reports by only the specific tags selected, and if an item doesnt have both of the tags it doesnt show it? Say i have two separate jobs that I have the tag Rental Equipment for, but I only want to see my Rental Equipment cost for the 1st job, so I would want to run a report using Rental Equipment tag and Job#1 tag and it shows only rental equipment items for job#1. Is there a way to accomplish this?
When i attempt to do this now in QBO, It seems like it either pulls all of the Rental Equipment tag or all of the items tagged under Job#1.
Thanks in advance.
Hello there, Amurley. Thank you for reaching out to the Community.
To assist you better, I'd appreciate it if you could provide us with more specific details on what kind of report you're trying to run.
Any additional information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
I'll be on the lookout for your response. If you have additional concerns or any other QuickBooks-related issues, feel free to include them in the comments. I'll be glad to lend a hand. Take care.
So I am attempting to run the report by tags.
So I go to settings > Tags and find my expense (Expense:Rental Equipment) and select "50 Transactions".
I then filter it by Money Out > Bills to show all of my paid items under Rental Equipment.
This works well and pulls up all of my billing transactions with the Rental Equipment tag.
But whenever I try to filter it by the Project, it disappears and states that there are no transactions.
Thanks.
I have another way on how your transactions show up with the specific tags, Amurley.
When running a report, you can only customize the Group name for the transactions to show up. You can run the Transactions List by Tag Group, then customize the Group by field to Project to ensure all transactions appear. I've added a screenshot for your reference:
If you want the group name to appear on the information, you may consider adding them to the Group name.
Furthermore, QuickBooks offers a variety of reports to get the right data you need for your business. You'll only have to customize them to ensure that the correct information is pulled up. I've added this article for more details: Customize Reports In QuickBooks Online.

Thanks for the reply!
This report looks close to almost exactly what I need.
The only issue is the only Group I can filter by are Ungrouped tags.
I am still not able to filter by for example my Rental Equipment tag.
I am also not seeing where to find the Group screen in your second screenshot?
Thank you.
I am so happy to hear that the report is close to what you need, Amurley! Here are the steps to add the group name so it appears as my colleague shared in the second screenshot:
Please let me know if you have any questions! My team and I will do our best to help.
Hello there, Amurley.
I appreciate you for coming back to the thread and clarifying your concern in QuickBooks Online. I've got insights on how tags and group tags feature work in your report and ensure you'll be able to manage them efficiently.
Please know that only the name of the Tag groups will appear as an option in the Group by field in the Transactions List by Tag Group report. With this, you can use the Ungrouped tags option to see each created individual tag that is used for each entry. I added screenshots below for visual references.
You can also open each article below for additional information on how Tags work in QuickBooks:
In case you need steps on how you can email, print, and export the said report above, you can read this article: Run reports in QuickBooks Online.
Please add a comment below if you still have concerns related to tags or any related matter in QBO, Amurley. I'm always here to assist you further. Have a good one!
