How do i close out this business and reopen a new one

Hi @laney1,

Welcome to the Community. I'd be glad to assist you with your question.

Just to clarify, are you needing to start a new QuickBooks Online account? If so, and you're wishing to start over, I'm including an article that covers available options: Deleting Online Data and Starting Over.

Should you need something else, or have questions, please let me know. Best regards.

How do i close out this business and reopen a new one

I made a complete mess out of my quick books over the past year.  Starting fresh January 1, 2023 I want to close and reopen.  I tried to purge but was unable to because business is over 60 days.  I was instructed to close account and open a new one.  I am not opening a "new" business; it is the same one, same tax I.D etc.

I closed the account.  Now I can not open another one.  I have gone on line and it wont let me go past review.

What do I do now.?

How do i close out this business and reopen a new one

Hello there, @cdjean20. I'm here to help you open another account for your business in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

To begin, could you tell me if you encounter any error messages when attempting to create an account? That information is a great help so I can provide a timely and accurate solution to resolve it.

In the meantime, below are the things you need to do whenever having a problem subscribing to a new QBO account:

  1. Review all credit card details including CVV and ensure that they are correct on the payment page.
  2. If the credit card you're using is a new card replacing an expired card, verify that your new credit card has been enabled for use.
  3. Reach out to your bank to make sure that they allow recurring billing from an online merchant. If not, monthly recurring payments for QBO may fail.

Once everything is fine, you can proceed to create an account again.

However, if the same thing happens, let's perform some troubleshooting steps to verify if this is a browser-related issue. To start, we can open your account via incognito mode to have a clean slate. This does not store history and cache files that can be corrupted causing odd behaviors when accessing the web-based page. Below are the shortcut keys you can use:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift +N

Once signed in, create an account again. If this works, go back to your regular browser and clear the cache to eliminate damaged files. If the same thing happens, you can utilize another supported browser or device.

When done, you can now proceed in setting up your company file. For reference, please check this article: Create or add another company file to QuickBooks Online.

You can also export the details of your previous QBO account and save them on your computer to have a handy copy that you can use as a reference in the future. For detailed steps, check out this article: Export reports, lists, and other data from QuickBooks Online.

If you have any other concerns about managing your QBO company, feel free to post again here. I'd be happy to assist you once more. Take care and have a good one.
