I'll help you customize your invoices in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @snop.
This way, you can personalize its appearance and add the info that matters most to your business. Let me show you how:
If you're using QBO Advanced, you can follow these steps to view the Terms and Preferred Payment Method in the invoice fields.
If you're using a different QBO version, you can follow the steps in this article instead: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QBO.
In addition, you can import and design custom form styles for your invoices in QuickBooks. This feature helps reflect your brand identity into your sales forms with less effort and time.

Looks like you are referring to individual invoices. I am referring to the Sales > Invoices page where I can see a table of open invoices on QB Online Advanced. I want to customize the table on that page so I can see which customers have open/overdue invoices and simultaneously see the Terms and Preferred Payment Method so I know if I should be running a credit card on file or wait for a check. Currently I can only see which is overdue/open and I have to click on each individual invoice to see the preferred payment method. This is cumbersome. The only options on that Sales > Invoices page are Batch Actions and New Invoice which isn't very helpful.
Thanks for coming back. We always strive to provide the best experience with the product, snop.
I know how beneficial it is to your business to add the Terms and Preferred Payment Method columns on the Invoices page. However, this option is unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO). What we can add as additional columns are the Invoice number, Balance, and Due date.
As a workaround, we need to open per transaction to see the Terms and Preferred Payment Method on an invoice. We can also follow the recommended steps provided by my colleague to add those fields to the transaction. Feel free to visit our Sales and customers page for more insights about managing your customer transactions.

I need something similar - I want to see the Description column as we bill a large team working for the same client for multiple services, and I have to keep a handwritten list of which invoice is which so I know which team member to chase for overdue invoices, or to make tweaks if necessary. I've tried following the methods suggested but the Description column does not appear on the Invoices page.
I'd like to see the description on the Invoices PAGE (not the invoice). Is this available?
Hello there, Michelle.
Currently, the option to enable the description column on the invoices page is unavailable. We can only add changes in the columns sections to see the invoice number, balance, due date, and estimate number.
In the meantime, I'd suggest sending a feature request to our product developers. They may consider this idea and include them in our future product updates.
Here's how to send feedback:
