How do I get to cash flow money in/money out totals for the current month? This was recently replaced on the dashboard with a projection that I do not find useful.

Hello, Cecelia.

I'm jumping to this thread and help you figure out what's preventing the actuals from showing up on the Cash Flow chart.

On the Cash Flow chart, there are two buttons to show the data. Your view is likely set on the Cash balance setting, which shows the balances and the projections calculated by QuickBooks.

Set it back to Money in/out view to show the actuals. I've attached a screenshot from my sample company file that shows the actual values:

cashflow12.PNG

Another thing that causes the projection values is the event from the planner module. You have the option to edit or delete it:

  1. Go to the Cash Flow menu, and select Planner.
  2. Open the event you want to edit or delete.
  3. Edit the details you want to change, then click Update.
  4. If you want to delete, click Remove instead.

If the actuals still don't show up in your end, then I'd recommend following up with our support. They can check the system and see what's preventing you from seeing the actual balances.

Use the method you've used to reach us, or if you want to call us instead, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Help icon.
  2. Select Talk to a human (or type it in the chat box).
  3. When asked, enter "Cash Flow chart not showing the actuals" in the chat box.
  4. Choose I still need a human.
  5. Click the Get help from a human link.
  6. Choose either Schedule appointment or Have us call you

I'll share a couple of articles in case you need references in managing your Cash Flow chart:

How do I get to cash flow money in/money out totals for the current month? This was recently replaced on the dashboard with a projection that I do not find useful.

Good day, shopsummerdog-gm.

I have a way where you cant get the data.

Instead of going to the Dashboard, you'll want to click the Cash flow menu on the left panel. Then, from the Overview tab, scroll down at the bottom, and you'll see the money in/out totals expected for this month.

Here's a sample screenshot for a visual reference:

You can also click the View reports drop-down to run reports like the Open invoices or Customer balance detail for the money in. Then, Expenses by vendor summary or Unpaid bills reports for the money out.

To learn more about the Cash flow feature, other reports, and how to customize them in QuickBooks Online, you can read these articles:

I'll be right here if you have more questions regarding the feature or other concerns that I can help you with. Just leave a reply below, and I'll get back to you as soon as possible. Take care!

How do I get to cash flow money in/money out totals for the current month? This was recently replaced on the dashboard with a projection that I do not find useful.

Hi,

The bottom of the cash flow page that you pointed me to does not work because it shows projections (expected values). I am looking for actuals based on retrieved bank balances.

The reports that you pointed me to are also not what I am looking for since they are based on entries into qbo. I am looking for actuals based on retrieved bank balances.

Up until recently - within the last month - this actual bank account information used to be shown on the dashboard under cashflow money in/out. The actuals are still suggested in the graphic there but now the only numbers there are for the projections. I don't understand why it makes sense to completely remove the actuals, especially since they are still on the graphic but not quantified. You can see what I mean in the file I attached. What is the easiest way to get back the money in/out totals based on actual bank account information?

Thanks,

Cecelia

Hello there, Cecelia. I appreciate you for getting back to us.

QuickBooks has its own way of tracking your cash flow to review the amount of money moving in and out of your business and bank account.

Since this has been working before, we can perform the basic troubleshooting steps. Sometimes your browser stores old data that causes unexpected behavior in QBO.

Opening your company using the incognito mode allows you to browse without storing internet history and cookies. Follow these steps to bring up a private browser.

  • For Google Chrome browser: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • For Mozilla Firefox browser: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • For Safari browser: Command + Shift + N

From there, you can access and review the chart flow if still working fine. If this works, clearing the cache will help the browser to fetch the latest version of the webpage and faster browsing experience. If the same thing happens, please give us a call so we can further check why happening on your end. Here's how:

  1. Go to Help at the upper-right corner.
  2. Click Contact us.
  3. Enter a short description of your concern.
  4. You can then choose how you want to start a conversation by choosing ChatCallbackCall us.

We have an article that you can check for detailed information about it. You'll also get videos that show the ability of the cash flow. Check here for more information: Track your cash flow in QuickBooks Online

Know that you can always tap me on my shoulder if you ever need anything else with QuickBooks. Take care and stay safe.

How do I get to cash flow money in/money out totals for the current month? This was recently replaced on the dashboard with a projection that I do not find useful.

Hi, I don't think this is a caching issue. I see the same dashboard page, attached again, when I go into incognito mode or clear cache.

It would most helpful for someone in support to check to see that the information requested - actual money in/out based on bank balances retrieved - is available when *you* look at the dashboard. Do *you* see actuals for the current month in addition to the projections when you look at the page that I attached, or do you just see the projections? If you do see actuals, could you send a screenshot of what it looks like for you? If you don't see the actuals, telling me to clear cache is not going to help me, and it would seem more likely that the page has been changed with a recent software update.

Again, the information I am looking for is actual cash in/out for the month based on retrieved bank balances, pretty basic numbers. These were replaced within the last month by qbo-generated projections, which are not useful to me.

I came to this forum after trying chat. The two times I tried chat to answer this question the line was dropped with no explanation after a long wait following the question. So I'm not eager to get back to those waits and would prefer a forum response if possible.

Thanks,
Cecelia

Thank you, that resolved the issue.

Removing the events projected in the planner worked. Now I just see the actuals again when I look at the cash flow money in/out on the dashboard.

I don't understand why the projections started showing up recently, but I'm glad I understand now how they are used.

Thank you for taking the time to send a detailed response.
