How do I send an automated P & L report?

I'd like to get an automated weekly report showing profit and loss. I don't see any way to do this. 

 

When I click on a custom report there isn't a button to send via email (as shown in the attached screenshot from a tutorial video).

Let me join this thread and provide information why you aren't seeing the Set email schedule option, ero213.

 

The Set email schedule feature is available in QuickBooks Online Essentials, Plus, and Advanced versions. Based on your screenshot, you're likely using the Simple Start version.

 

You might want to upgrade your subscription to have this feature. You'll also be able to access more reports and other functions that can help you manage your business. Here's a link you can browse based on your plan: Reports included in your QuickBooks Online subscription.

 

If you don't want to upgrade your subscription, you can manually email the report. Let me show you how:

  1. Open the report you want to email and click the Email option (envelop icon).
  2. Click the Email button.
  3. Enter the necessary details.
  4. Click Send.

I'm happy to help you automate this report, @ero213.

 

QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) has a feature called Scheduled Reports. This allows you to send/email reports on a regular and recurring scheduled time. You can also pick the time and frequency for sending out the reports.

 

Before doing so, ensure there's an email account set up and integrated with QuickBooks.

 

Here's how to create a scheduled report:

 

  1. In QBDT, go to the Reports menu at the top to get to the Scheduled Reports and Schedule Setup.
  2. Find the P&L report you wish to automate, then click Next.
  3. Set up the report schedule and compose the email.
  4. Once done, hit Schedule to complete.

So sorry about that, @ero213.

 

I misread this! I am happy to help get this sent out within QuickBooks Online. First, you'll want to create a custom report. Here's what you'll do:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Find and open a report. Tip: If you have QuickBooks Online Essentials, Plus, or Advanced, you can also run "Detail" versions of standard reports.
  3. Use the basic filters on the report to adjust things like the report dates.
  4. Select Customize.

This opens the customization window.  You can apply multiple filters to customize your report. Once you have the perfect set of filters, save them so you can run the same report in the future.

  1. After you customize a report, select Save customization.
  2. Give your report a name.
  3. Select Save.

Next, we can set up your schedule:

  1. Access your listing of Custom Reports via the main report menu on the left-hand column.  You’ll find a list of all reports you’ve previously saved.
  2. Select the report or group of reports, you’d like to schedule and click Edit.
  3. Select Set the email schedule for this report checkbox.
  4. From here you’ll have the ability to edit the schedule to send reports daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly – whatever you need – and you’ll be able to specify the recipient’s email address and customize the email.

Unfortunately, when I click "edit" on a custom report, it doesn't show the "Set the email schedule for this report" checkbox.

How do I send an automated P & L report?

Sorry to hear that. Seems like it should be a standard feature as small business owners would like to see regular reports in their inbox and not necessarily want all the other features that come with the upgrades.
