How to tell if an estimate has been viewed by the client?

You may need a 3rd party app to do so.

Yes, you go it right about the sent invoices, tony126.

Currently, we don't have an indicator that the sent estimate was already viewed by your client. We'll share this idea to our Product Development Team. They might consider this for future updates.

For now, we can only ensure that the estimate was received by your client. The Last Delivery indicator will appear below the Customer and the Email fields.

You might also consider using a third-party app to have an indicator that tells us that your client viewed the estimate.

Keep us posted if you need anything else. Have a great day!

You should defiantly do this because i am switching over from Joist to Quickbooks and i like the layout for estimates on Quickbooks but it is very helpful if it had the features that joist has as in letting you know as soon as someone opens or views the estimates every time they open it. Joist is a good app for estimates but since i am now paying for Quickbooks and the sync for joist to Quickbooks is not seamless i am only going to be using Quickbooks, but since you do not have this feature i may have to continue using joist until you (quickbooks) has this feature. Please take this into consideration.

You can see when an invoice has been viewed, but there is no confirmation with the estimate.

Furthermore, it would be extremely helpful to have the ability for customers to approve estimates online. There are workarounds with Docusign or other third party applications, but it is bulky and not seamless.

when does Quickbooks plan to have this feature available? I feel like the capability is there as you can see whenever a customer views an invoice but not when they have viewed an estimate. How about instead of just pushing this off to third party apps and instead of continuously expanding into more and more en devours (ie insurance planning) QB focuses on what made it so good in the first place. The estimates and invoices are integral to the QB brand and it is sad that so many people have asked for this feature and the answers are always for third part (paid- mostly) apps.

Welcome to QuickBooks Community, elitefireplace. I recognize the importance of having the ability to confirm that the sent estimate was already viewed by your customer. With this, I'll ensure you can send feedback so your suggestion is forwarded to the Product Development Team.

For now, we are unable to provide a specific time frame as to when the said option will be available in the future. I suggest going to the Gear icon in QuickBooks Online. From there, you're able to choose Feedback to submit a request about having the option to see if the estimate has been viewed by the customer. Any recommendations are sent to our engineer for consideration in future updates.

Lastly, you may refer to this article to understand the new setup of Estimate and how it works in QBO: Create and send estimates in QuickBooks Online.

I'll be around to help if you have any other questions about this concern or any related matter about the estimate. Just let me know by leaving a comment below. Have a nice day ahead, elitefireplace.

We need this feature!  Someone calls me and asks for a quote, I put one together and email it to them. I don't know if they received it or not. Did it go into their spam? Did I enter the email incorrectly?

Welcome to this thread, Dono D.

I appreciate you for voicing your interest in having the option to know if an estimate has already been viewed by your client. Though this is still unavailable, QuickBooks Online (QBO), is constantly changing and evolving based largely on the suggestions and requests of users like yourself.

In the meantime, I want you to get in the loop about the latest news and product developments in QuickBooks. That said, I encourage you to visit our Firm of the future site. To narrow down your search, you can go to the Product & Industry News tab.

You might also want to check out these articles for more tips on how to manage estimates including how to customize your estimates in QBO:

You still need a 3rd party app to integrate with QBO.

I really hope the read receipts get added to estimates. I have considered switching to something other than quickbooks because it seems an abnormal amount of estimates go to junk mail at different times and I never know that the client doesn’t receive them.

We want you to have the best experience using the program, @Raisedconcrete.

I can see that the option to read receipts is a crucial feature for any business. Discovering new ways to adapt to our customer’s needs is how QuickBooks gets even better. Your feedback helps our Product Development team determine which feature will be implemented in the next future update. The change is also based on how popular a specific feature request is.

That being said, I suggest submitting a product suggestion directly to our software engineers. We're taking notes of your ideas and insights. Let me show you:

  1. Go to the Gear icon at the top.
  2. Click Feedback.
  3. Enter your comments or product suggestions.
  4. Then choose Next to submit feedback.

Your relevant feedback goes to our Product Development team to help heighten your experience in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

In the meantime, you can keep an eye on our QuickBooks Blog to stay up-to-date with the latest news.

Additionally, I've also included this reference to help manage your estimates in QuickBooks:

Thank you for your patience while we work on this. Feel at ease to get back to this thread if you have other concerns with handling estimates in QuickBooks. I'll be more than happy to help. Please take care.
