I'm trying to drag/drop docs onto checks and am receiving the message for security purposed this can not be uploaded. How can I load documents?

Good day mercerlaw9,

Let's go over some options to successfully drag and drop your documents to your checks.

It’s possible the type of your documents is not one of the supported files types.

Here’s the list of the supported file type:

  • PDF
  • JPEG
  • PNG
  • DOC
  • XLSX
  • CSV
  • TIFF
  • GIF
  • XML

For reference here’s an article: Attachments in QuickBooks Online.

Since the drop/drag option isn’t working, let’s try to use attach button. If the same issue persists, you can upload the file at the Attachment section to indicate the file in the check.

Here’s how:

  1. Click the Gear icon.
  2. Under List, select Attachments.
  3. Click the Attachments icon.
  4. Select the file and click Open.
  5. Go back to the check and select Show existing link.
  6. A fill will slide from the right corner and select Add.

Please let me know how it works, I’d like to make sure that your concern is resolved. I’ll be here whenever you need help. Have a good day!

Hello

Does anyone know how to upload attachments to the Contractor section?  Like W-9 and insurance certificates?

Hello, lnesta.

Glad to see you here in Community. Currently, the ability to add the attachment to the contractor is unavailable in QuickBooks. You'll want to check on this article to review the available transactions that can put in as an attachment.

You'll want to check out our Intuit Apps Store. Then, look for any applications that are compatible with QBO that might help you upload the contractor attachment into your account.

Just go to Apps on the left side menu and tick the Find Apps section to look for the third-party app. You can also click this link to route you over: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/app/apps/home/

We always welcome ideas from customers that can enhance our software. Adding attachment to the contractor is one of the most requested feature. Rest assured that our Product Development Team is working diligently to have this added in our future updates.

In the meantime, you can visit our QuickBooks Online Blog to see what's new about our product updates and feature enhancement.

Keep me posted if you need a hand with anything else about QuickBooks. I'll be here to ensure your success. Have a great day ahead. Keep safe!

I'm trying to drag/drop docs onto checks and am receiving the message for security purposed this can not be uploaded. How can I load documents?

Today, I was blocked from uploading a .pdf file.
I have been doing this for every check for many months.

Did something change recently?

Thanks!

Hi there, davedlzmarketing.

I'm happy to see you posting here in QuickBooks Community.

For now, we didn't receive any changes when uploading attachments using a .pdf file. Since you have been doing this for many months and now was blocked, it could be a stored history in your regular browser that causes unexpected behavior in the program.

I'd suggest uploading your attachments using a private browser or incognito browser. This way, we can isolate this for a possible browser-related issue. You can use any of these keyboard shortcuts:

  • For Internet Explorer of Firefox, press Ctrl + Shift + P.
  • For Chrome, press Ctrl + Shift + N.
  • For Safari, hold down Command + Shift + N.

If it works in incognito, I'd recommend clearing the cache of your regular browser. This removes the history or log of sites so you can start with a clean slate. If the steps above didn't work, use another supported browser as an alternative.

Please refer to this article to see more details about adding attachments and how you can view all of them in QuickBooks: Attachments in QuickBooks Online

Please check this article on how you can print a partial page of checks and voucher checks without the voucher portion: Print checks.

Please feel free to let me know if you have other questions about QuickBooks Online. Have a good one.
