I need to change the bank account that all future payroll checks are deducted from, however, I currently have 2 pending tax payments, so it will not allow me to do so.

I am okay with allowing the pending tax payments to be deducted from the current bank account on 4/30/20 as it is currently set to pay, however, I'd like this week's payroll (and all future ones) deducted from a new bank account on 4/17/20. How can I get this accomplished?

Hi LRinSTL,

The general rule is there's should be no pending tax payments to be able to change the bank account. However, we're also considering inevitable situations like, what if the account was closed before the payment date. For this reason, I would recommend reaching out to Support, so they can check your account and find options for you.

Please note that that the normal number of days for test debits is 2-3 business days, and that's near or well include 4/17/2020.

For future reference, I spoke to customer support and the answer is....it can't be done.  You cannot change your bank account if you have pending tax payments.  The two options are:

  1. Delete any pending tax payments, which would require you to make the tax payments on your own via some other method.  You would not be able to set up another tax payment for the same period thru QBO.
  2. Wait until the tax payments have been made and change your bank account at that time.
