Thanks for reaching out to the Community about your concern, adele2.

Let’s configure the report’s width to your preference. Then download it as a PDF and print from there.

Here’s how:

  1. Open the report you’re working on.
  2. Hover your mouse on the column border until you see the scale width icon.
  3. Drag the icon to adjust the column width.
  4. Select Run Report.
  5. Click the Print icon in the upper right to preview the statement.
  6. On the Print, email, or save as PDF page, set the correct format for the statement.
  7. Click the Download icon and then save the report where you can easily find it.
  8. Once done, open the report and print it.

Let me share these guides for future reference. These resources contain a video to help a user customize reports, as well as how to export them to Excel.

It is not a report it is an Invoice. I don't have the option to save it as a pdf. I have followed the instructions and they don't work.

This is absolutely ridiculous. I can change the column width but when I print and preview the column narrows and I have to print 3 pages it looks so unprofessional.

Hello there, adele2.

Thanks for getting back to us with further clarification. You can save the invoice as a PDF by clicking the Download icon. Once you did it, you'll be asked to enter a filename to save this on your computer. To guide you further, you can follow these steps:

  1. Open the invoice you've created.
  2. Click Print or Preview at the bottom part of the page.
  3. Then, select Print or Preview. It will open the transaction as a PDF.
  4. Once you get there, enter the filename.
  5. Click Save. It'll store on your computer.

Here's a sample screenshot for additional information:

As long as the information or items added on the invoice is not too much, you can have it print for only one page. If there are more items added, you'll have to print more than one. Also, adjusting the column width when printing the transaction is unavailable. You may want to check our blog website for product updates.

How can you wrap the text so that all data fits into the memo/description field or any other custom field? To print or save as PDF for an invoice or a report?

Nice to have you join this thread, @WS110.

All the text entered in your MEMO/DESCRIPTION field will show when printing invoices and reports. However, theirs only a limited of text you can enter in your Custom field.

You'll want to ensure to concise the words in your Custom field to view it when printing reports and invoices. I've added some screenshots below for visual reference.

Additionally, ensure to customize your invoice and report to show your preferred data before printing them. To be guided, check out these links:

I have desktop premier plus professional 2024. I am having the same issue when I try to print a General Journal Entry. on the screen you can make the columns as wide or narrow as you like, but when it prints it reverts back to smaller widths. It always cuts off the rest of the text.

Thanks for joining this thread, lpalladino. I appreciate your detailed information.

I can certainly understand how an ability to customize columns on general journal entries, then print them in their new customized format could be useful and have submitted a suggestion about it as of today.

You can submit your own feature requests while using QuickBooks.

Here's how:

  1. In the top menu bar, go to Help, Send Feedback Online, then Product Suggestion....

  2. Choose a Type of Feedback and Product Area (optional) from your available drop-down menus.

  3. Enter any suggestions/feedback in the Here is my suggestion: field.

  4. If you'd like, include your name/email in the My name is: (optional) and My e-mail address is: (optional) fields.

  5. Select Send Feedback.

Your feedback's definitely valuable to Intuit. It will be reviewed by our Product Development team and considered in future updates. You can stay up-to-date with the latest news about your product by reviewing Intuit's Product Updates webpage.

You also have the option of checking our QuickBooks Desktop Marketplace for apps which may be able to help you achieve what you're looking to do.

As a workaround, you can export general journal entries. After doing so, they can be customized further outside of QuickBooks.

Please don't hesitate to send a reply if there's any additional questions. Have a great Wednesday!
