Memo Field on Checks no longer accessible after 3/21/19 update

In fact, typing a previously used vendor name in the Payee field results in the memo field being populated with what was in the previous check but in a grayed out fashion.

Trying to write a check to a new vendor does not allow entry in the memo field.

This started today, 3/21/19 and I see that updates were applied automatically earlier today.  I tried updating again but same problem exists.

Memo Field on Checks no longer accessible after 3/21/19 update

I am pleased to report that it is fixed.

Repair program didn't do it

Then I did these 3 steps without checking in between.  So, one of them worked.

Fix QuickBooks Desktop

QuickBooks File Doctor

Rebuild and Verify

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for dropping by, blondcb.

I can help you write a check and access the memo filed in QuickBooks Desktop.

Repairing QuickBooks can to fix program-related issues or errors.

Here's how:

  1. Restart your computer to close unnecessary programs interfering with QuickBooks.
  2. Back up your QuickBooks company file.
  3. Select Start and then Control Panel. (In Windows 8/8.1: From the Start menu, open Search and type Control Panel. From the results, select Control Panel.)
  4. Select Programs and Features. If necessary, choose to Uninstall a program.
(If you don't see these options, select Programs, then Program Features.)
  5. Select QuickBooks in the list of programs and choose Uninstall/Change.
  6. Select Continue, then Next.
  7. Select Repair then Next. Wait for the Repair to complete.
  8. Choose Finish. Restart your computer if prompted.
  9. Don't forget to download the latest QuickBooks release and the latest payroll tax table when you open QuickBooks.
