This is a big problem. Since QBO doesn't seem concerned about addressing this problem, has anyone looked into alternative programs? If so, have you found any programs that look worthwhile? I'm planning on spending the day looking for a new invoicing program. I need to be able to remove the product/service column on the PDF view, and I also need to keep the functionality allowing customers to pay directly from the email/invoice. I don't even care if I have to pay more at this point!
This is a real mess. Trying to create a template is confusing. Why can't I create a template in Modern View???? Really. Trash this mess!! Start over.
Am I supposed to click on "Standard" under other templates? Is this still the "modern" view? No one is being clear about this.
Hey suzannek1,
Thank you for connecting with us! I would love to assist here. If you are trying to create a new template, follow the steps below:
If you would like to edit your Standard template, which is your Default setting, you can select edit and make changes there as well or leave it as is. For more information about these features, check out the article below.

None of this affects the "modern" invoice.
Hello,
I have followed these instructions...but still when I email my customers their estimate, they are able to see a different version of the estimate even I selected the template that I created. Please advise when this will be fixed.
Kara

Also, is there a way to apply the "Standard" version to all invoices? Or do we have to do this for each and every invoice?
It's nice to welcome you back in the thread, Suzanne. I'll guide you through the process of applying the Standard version to all your invoices.
After following the steps given by my colleague in creating a template, you mentioned that none of it affects the "modern" invoice. To fix this, you'll need to ensure that the new design you created is marked as default for it to be applied. Please refer to the steps below:
Regarding the Standard version, this is the default form style in QuickBooks Online (QBO). If you haven't created other templates, this will automatically apply to all your sales forms. However, you also have the option to customize this.
If you set other templates as default, you can remove them as default so that the Standard version will be applied to all your invoices. This eliminates the need to do this for every invoice you create. Here's how:

Looks like it may actually be possible now to turn off Product/Services using the modern template but the implementation is horrible. I have to enable the field to be able to properly create my invoice but then need to disable the field before I send the invoice to my clients. Adding these extra steps is very time consuming.
I hope they get this resolved sooner than later.
CAN WE PLEASE GET AN UPDATE!?!?!?!?!
Its very time consuming turning "Product/service" on to create the sales form and then having to turn it off again before sending the sales form. Not to mention it is HORRIBLE when you forget to turn it off before sending out an email. Clients DO NOT NEED to know our internal coding/naming.
Something so easy to use on the old system has been broken for far too long now.
I can only imagine what you've been through, @herbie1057.
I recognize how beneficial it is for you to conveniently manage your Product/Service before sending out an email to your customers in QuickBooks Online.
I understand that manually turning on/off the Product/Services would consume a lot of your time. As a workaround, I suggest following the steps provided by my colleague above to create a template that allows you to choose the elements you want to include in your invoice and arrange them to suit your needs. Setting it as default will give you more control over the final output and allow you to tailor it to your requirements.
Once you've completed this process, you can go to the invoice and select the style you created/edited. You can also preview the invoices before printing them. Additionally, even if you toggle the Products/Service button off for your invoices, the column will still show. However, once you email it to your customer, the Product/Service column won't appear.
This is what your customer will be seeing once you set the default custom template that you created and email it to them:
I understand how this feature would help you efficiently manage your business in QuickBooks Online (QBO). Currently, we don't have a specific timeline for implementing the feature that allows users to turn off/on Products/Services and will automatically operate before sending out an email. Therefore, I encourage you to submit feedback to our Product Developer team. Your suggestions are highly valuable to us, and we will consider them while making product updates.

That’s exactly what I’ve been doing. Turning on products and services, create form then turn off. A couple times I forgot to turn it back off as well. These responses from QuickBooks are worthless. Must be AI not really listening!k
