I got to know that Quickbook is discontinuing add on services and support services in some version of Desktop after May 31, 2023.
Just wanted to know if Quickbook is discontinuing all add on services on all version of Desktop or on just Quickbook Desktop 2020 version.
I use Quickbook Desktop Pro 2021. Do I have a reason to worry?
Hi there, @dhavalkakadiya. I'm pleased to share more information about the QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) discontinuation policy.
You don't need to worry about your subscription. With QBDT Pro 2021, you'll still enjoy the add-on services and be able to subscribe to live technical support or any of the other Intuit services that can be integrated with QuickBooks.
These are the only products affected by the discontinuation after May 31, 2023:

Just wanted to understand one more thing.
How do I update my current version of Quickbook Desktop (Pro 2021) to Pro 2023?
You are using QB Desktop 2021 with the one time license, correct? You need to purchase a new license for QB Desktop 2023 to upgrade your version.
I do not think this is an annual license.
I have been using it for 2 years now. Am I missing anything here?
QB Desktop 2021 is the last version you can run with the one time license. Login to your CAMPS as the Primary Contact to make sure your license status.
You're welcome, @dhavalkakadiya. It's our pleasure to help!

I have heard that support for this version of QuickBooks will end May 2024.
I have heard that if I upgrade to 2023, it will only be supported until May 2025.
I have also heard that you are ending your relationship with TechSoup for Desktop licenses.
What is the real status of these licenses?
I’d be glad to share information and discuss them with you, @sbfulkrod.
At the moment, there are no updates on when the current supported QuickBooks Desktop products will be discontinued. However, the program works completely along with its elements and add-on services for 3 years.
After that, there will be no more updates released, online features such as Online Banking, Merchant Services, including support assistance. Nonetheless, you can still open and modify your company files at any time with a compatible license.
Please know that TechSoup will no longer be supported. See this page to learn further: Changes to Intuit Program Restrictions.

You did not really respond to my questions -
I have heard that support for QuickBooks Premier Nonprofit 2021 will end May 2024 - is that true?
I have heard that if I upgrade to 2023, it will only be supported until May 2025 - is that true?
I have also heard that you are ending your relationship with TechSoup for Desktop licenses - why? This was a great low-priced alternative for 501c3 organizations.
I appreciate you getting back to us and clarifying the concerns you have, sbfulkrod.
The answer to your questions is Yes. You're correct that the support for QuickBooks Premier Nonprofit 2021 will end in May 2024. QuickBooks program has a 3-year life cycle.
As advised, your access to payroll, online banking, and other services will be discontinued. Still, I'd like to share this article for more details about service discontinuation in this article: QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation policy.
Also, TechSoup will no longer offer the desktop version of QuickBooks. I understand and see your point on how it helps you and other users in an alternative way.

Will Quickbooks Destop Premier Version 2021 still be accepted Under the Quickbook Destop Discontinued until May 2025 also?
Yes, @claudettew. Let me guide you along the process of the QuickBooks Desktop discontinuation process.
Though there isn't an update yet for the Desktop 2021 version at this moment. QuickBooks Desktop releases and implements a discontinuation policy every three years, including versions of Desktop Pro, Premier, and Enterprise.
Nevertheless, it would be better to wait for an announcement and when will this discontinuation process be implemented for version 2021.
I'm adding this page for the complete information on the QuickBooks Desktop discontinuation policy for the 2020 version.
For instance, you need to create a backup file of your company; see this article for the detailed steps: Back up your QuickBooks Desktop company file.
Plus, to ensure the continuity of operations and receive the latest features, you need to upgrade it before the discontinuation end. Visit this article as your reference: Upgrade QuickBooks Desktop Pro, Premier, or Enterprise.
Thanks for coming to this thread, @claudettew. Know that we are always here to assist you. Stay safe.
QuickBooks Desktop Premier Plus 2023 is currently available, and with the 3 year coverage period Intuit says they will provide, that should get you to 2026.
I was running QB desktop 2021 pro, which had the option of opening two companies at once.
i was charged the 799 to upgrade to 2023 premier, which I did and now that feature is no longer available.
what are my options? Can I go back to 2021?
I was running QB 2021 DT which had the option of opening a second company at the same time. I upgraded to 2023 as instructed and was charged the 799 amount. The new version does not have this feature. Is there anything I can do, go back to 2021 etc ?
Are you sure you were opening 2 company files on the same screen on QBD 2021 Pro at the same time? I'm still running QBD 2021 Premier and can't do that. As I know, this feature is only available in QBD (Premier) Accountant and Enterprise.
Thanks for joining this thread, @user 12. I'm here to provide information about accessing two company files in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
Fiat Lux - ASIA is correct that you can open two company files in 2 different versions of QBDT if you're using the QuickBooks Accountant or QBDT Enterprise.
If you have the supported version, here's an article for your reference to open a secondary company: Open and use a secondary company file in QuickBooks Desktop. This article includes some restrictions when opening a secondary company file.
On the other hand, upgrading your company file in QBDT is irreversible. Thus, it isn't possible to downgrade your file. What you can do is utilize a backup copy of your company file from a previous version if you have any and access the file in your older version of QBDT.
Moreover, you can check out this resource to avoid issues and errors when upgrading a QBDT company: Company file compatibility with QuickBooks Desktop when upgrading.
You can always count on me if you need more help with your company files or QBDT. Keep me posted by tagging me in your reply. Stay safe!
If you upgrade your qbooks desktop, you are upgrading to a subscription based plan and will no longer be able to use your normal desktop. And if you don't pay your yearly fee, you will lose access to your data. Make sure to print hard copies of your data... Better yet, keep your qbooks desktop and don't upgrade. You won't get payroll support unless you do. Qbooks is discontinuing the payroll support for single license users and forcing the product to a subscription based format...
I ran my last payroll for June 2023 with the payroll subscription still active before it shuts down. I have been manually doing my payroll for the last two months to make sure I "Got it right" before losing the payroll feature. And wouldn't you know it, Qbooks was already messing with tax amounts and making incorrect totals for taxes within my payroll. Lucky for me I have been preparing for this change for two months by creating a payroll worksheet with all the withholding amounts. Folks - payroll is easy to calculate. Just be very cautious. Qbooks is trying to scare you by saying you will have incorrect payroll. Bologna!!.. Yah, it'll be a little bit more work on my end, but well worth it... Qbooks, you have lost your way by discontinuing the desktop single license version with payroll. QB Online is not only a horrible product fraught with so many glitches in all of its capabilities, but it is so expensive. And the amount of time I have wasted going thru help to get them to fix some glitch is hours and hours. I hope you will see that this change is a horrible change and bring back the old desktop, the product that made qbooks a successful and quality product.
I have quickbooks desktop 2021 and can not submit payroll through my enhanced payroll subscription. So the answer you received is incorrect
Hi there, tb48tax.
Can you tell us what happens when you submit your payroll? Are you getting an error message? We just want to make sure that we are giving you the right steps and information to sort this out.
Please add a reply below to share more details. We look forward to it.
The error message says it will not submit because 2020 has been discontinued even though my version is 2021
The error message says it will not aubmit because 2020 is being discontinued but I am using quickbooks 2021
I have QB Pro Desktop 2021 and even after charging me a full year of payroll subscription fee back in Feb, they discontinued the payroll subscription feature. Now I have to fight with qbooks to get refund back...
