For everyone using Desktop for Mac that “supposedly” has the capability to print the new 1098 NEC forms, and all of you QB experts………THERE’S NO UPDATE PROCESS AVAILABLE IN THE HELP MENU DROP DOWN !

Why is QB selling its own custom 2021 1099 NEC 2 part forms (at outrageous prices) if it’s so easy to print the 3 part forms ???

Not true.

Tried everything they said and still only printed 2 forms to a page.

Then I checked the box in "Update Quickbooks Desktop" for "Reset Update".  It redownloads the updates.  After downloading and then restarting quickbooks so it could install, It now prints 3 forms to a page!!

I decided to let my QuickBooks issue set over the weekend.  Had previously done everything that I was told to try without success.  This morning when I got into my file, I did the Update Quickbooks Desktop again and it worked.  I am now able to print 3 to a page.  Not sure what all you did over the weekend, but it has solved  my problem.  I hope everyone else is able to get the same result.  Thank you.

I do not have a critical fixed tab to check.  I am not able to print 3 part 1099 NEC's only 2 part.  How do I fix? 

I am on 2022 QBDT and updated everything and did the Reset Update Box, rebooted my computer and installed every update out there (January 10, 2022).  Did not work for me.  It is still printing 2 per page.  I am not sure if I should be seeing another option that I need to choose but wanted to give an update that it did NOT work, at least for me.  Any other options anyone has found?  Thank you.

Let's try to update your QuickBooks Desktop files to the latest release and ensure to get the critical fixes. Let me guide you how:

1.   Go to the Help menu.
2.   Click Update QuickBooks Desktop.
3.   Go to the Options tab and click Mark All, then Save.
4.   Tap the Update Now tab.
5.   Make sure Critical Fixes is checked.
6.   Then click Get Updates.

If you are still unable to print three 1099-NEC to a page this is what fixed it for me.  I have QuickBooks desktop and enhanced payroll.

1.  Go to the Help 

2.  Update Quickbooks Desktop

3.  Go to the Update Now Tab

4.  Make sure all the boxes are checked the check reset update

5.  When that is updated go to file, close company/log off\

6.  Then file exit.

7.  Restart your computer

8.  Go back into the help/update now tab and the last two items (critical fixes I believe) should show updates.

After I did this on two separate computers my 1099-NEC's printed correctly.

we might be getting closer to a reply that helps. But none of this helps if you're on desktop for mac. please advise.

I am using 2020 MAC Desktop and only option is 2 on a page.  Under Help I do not have an option, update quickbooks.  I have that option under Quickbooks on menu bar but it is just a general update no option to select all or critical updates.

I understand the need to have this option updated on your end. I'd suggest you run the verify rebuild tool to fix potential data damage. 

Here's how: 

To Verify Data:

1. Click on File from the menu bar.
2. Hover your mouse on Utilities, choose Verify Data.
3. If it says QuickBooks detected no problem with your data, click on OK. But if there is an issue detected, choose whether to Rebuild Now or View Errors.

To Rebuild Data:

1. Click on File from the menu bar.
2. Hover your mouse on Utilities, choose Rebuild Data.
3. Click on OK on the QuickBooks Information window.
4. Follow the steps in saving a backup. Note that if your cursor is still moving while displaying QuickBooks not responding, the rebuild is still ongoing.
5. Select OK when Rebuild has been completed.

If you get the same result, I recommend contacting our phone agent to conduct a screen-sharing session with you to take a closer look at your issue.

3. Select your QuickBooks version.

5. Click on the Get Phone Number button.

The update still does not include the change to 3 per page. It is now January 11! Please advise!!!

I must be stupid. I have the 2019 desktop version for Mac. When I go to the Help tab, there is no option for updates. When I click on the Quickbooks tab and then the latest updates, it tells me I've got all the latest updates. Where in *%## is the critical update to fix the printing out of the 3 part 1099-NEC??

I did exactly what you say in this post - and critical fixes "Nothing new" - signed out and back in and still only 2 per page 1099-NEC instead of 3 per page? This isn't fixed at all.

Updating QuickBooks to the latest release should allow you to print NEC 3 page form. Please ensure that the Reset Update option is enabled when you update QuickBooks. It guarantees that you have the latest up-to-date features and fixes.

Here's how:

1. Go to the Help menu, then Update QuickBooks Desktop.
2. Click the Update Now tab.
3. Put a checkmark on the box beside Reset Update.
4. Select Get Updates.

Once done, you can close QuickBooks and restart your computer.

This message is for the GB2019 Mac user that couldn't find the update button. On the top line of the drop down menu click on the QuickBooks tab. "Check for QuickBooks Update" is there. Good luck! I have been checking for updates multiple times every day and there still isn't one!! So frustrating.

This solved my problem.

The checkbox Reset Update was the most important. I applied the update normally on Friday and the forms did not update.

I can now print 3 up forms after re-applying the update by selecting checkbox "Reset Update"

ditto!! 2020 Mac desktop is NOT updated. still 2 per page. Please do not tell us to go to Help>Update Quickbooks>Select all options & save again. We do not have this option! We only have Quickbooks>Check for Updates>"You are up to date!"

I tried as well all the updates and reboot and it still is not working as of this morning January 11.  I am a small company with no IT support, so this needs to be a very easy fix that won't mess anything up that I won't know how to deal with.  Thank you.

I can share additional steps to help you print NEC 3 pages.

It may be the update failed to sync which is why you can't print the NEC 3 pages. Let's do a manual update if you're using QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. I'll show you how.

Step 1: Uninstall QuickBooks Desktop for Mac:

1. Close QuickBooks.
2. From the Finder menu, click Go Applications.
3. Drag the QuickBooks icon to the Trash.

Step 2: Reinstall QuickBooks:

1. Go to QuickBooks Downloads & Updates.
2. Ensure to choose the correct country, product, and version.
3. Select Search.
4. Click Download to download the installer file.
5. Double-click the .dmg file.
6. Drag the QuickBooks icon to the Applications folder to install.
7. Once done. verify the update and check the release number, then open QuickBooks and press Cmd+1.

This worked - thank you! Checking the box Re-set Updates was key to this working, now I can print 3 per page.

Had to also re-map my accounts to 1099-NEC instead of 1099-MISC which they were last year. To do this I had to go to print 1099-MISC - omit those accounts from 1099-MISC, then go out and back in. Then I went to print 1099-NEC and marked any accounts associated with 1099-NEC - this is how I fixed that!

I am running QB 2019 Desktop and my update was a New Feature update, not a Critical Fix Update, but it worked and I was able to print my forms.

I first had to remapped my accounts: I had to clear all mapping under the MISC tab and then remap the NEC and MISC accounts. I have other client files that do not have the update yet, hoping the rollout will hit all very soon!
