Correct, I forgot I had to Run As Administrator before everything updated.
I have QB Desktop Pro Plus 2019, but the person who initially posted some of these instructions that I followed had QB Desktop 2021 if I remember correctly. We're a contractor as well, but I like using and adapting the regular version because it seems more versatile (perhaps my assumption is wrong, but I like the original.)
I truly wish you the best of luck and hope that you don't give up. After a while though, enough is enough! Hang in there!
THANK YOU!!! {{{{{{{{BIG HUGS!!}}}}}}} Your solution worked!!
Thank you!!!!
Thank you very much!
AWESOME! If you read back in earlier January in this chain, you will see the original author. It is not me, but because of her (I don't remember her name, Barbara maybe?) I was able to get mine to work! Paying it forward because I don't think I have ever been so frustrated! But don't you now feel like you can conquer the world? LOL
Thank you to all of you who provided instructions, based on your experience with this issue, that finally solved my problem.
BIG HUGS!!
Once I finally got the updates corrected, I could print 3 to a page. Your post was extremely helpful for getting them aligned properly.
Thank you :)
Yes!! Hahaha. Thanks again :)
My small client has QuickBooks Desktop 2018. Is there going to be an update for that version to enable 1099Nec 3 part? I have tried all the suggestions in the various threads.
Thanks for joining us here, @ajb-int.
Let's get your 1099-NEC printed. To confirm, after running the update, did you try changing the 1099-MISC mapping? If not, you'll want to change all the 1099-Misc accounts to "Omit these payments from 1099". This way, your 1099-NEC accounts will update, and you should be able to print the 1099-NEC 3-page form.
See these articles for the step-by-step instructions:
If you're still unable to print, please contact our Customer Care Support so we can investigate further. Use this link to reach out: Contact QuickBooks Desktop support.
In the meantime, you can visit the IRS website as a workaround. Download the form and use the 1099-Detail Report to get the details. See the image below.
Additionally, here's a link that'll help you manage vendor-related tasks: Enter expenses, pay bills, write checks, and manage suppliers.

Hi @ajb-int
I believe your question was "will QBDT 2018 be updated and supported to print 1099 forms in the new 3-up format." The short answer is No. You would need to upgrade their version of QB to at least 2019 in order to print them this year.

How can I print 1099 forms 2 per page? This year when I went to print our 1099 forms it printed 3 per page over the forms we purchased which are 2 per page.
Welcome to the Community, @James Powers. Let me share some insights about printing 1099 NEC forms in QuickBooks Desktop.
With QuickBooks' new update, you will now have the three pages of the 1099 NEC form once your QuickBooks Desktop version is updated. We don't have the option to go back to the old interface where you can get two pages.
I'll be sharing with you this article as your reference in creating and filing the 1099 NEC form in QuickBooks Desktop: Create and file 1099s with QuickBooks Desktop.

This DID NOT ANSWER MY QUESTION. I don't know why you put "solved" next to my post with this reference.
My questions was: How can I print 2 per page from my Quickbooks 2020 Professional Desktop software?
Now it is printing 3 per page. You SHOULD HAVE put an option to print 2 or 3 per page. I went out & purchased 1099 forms that are 2 per page. Now my money is wasted. This seems like an attempt to make me purchase more from Intuit. Either efile, which comes with a hefty fee, or more forms, this time from you??

I understand your frustration with Intuit and the "answers" posted on these forums.
Let me try to help. The IRS changed the format for 1099-NEC forms this year to 3 per page, from last year's that were 2 per page. They WILL NOT accept the 2 per page format, therefore there is no option to print them that way. The 1099-MISC (for reporting Rents and Royalties, etc) on the other hand is still in 2 per page format. If you look closely at the 2 per page 1099-NEC forms you purchased, they are most likely for 2020 or are 1099-MISC forms, and not NEC. If they are indeed 2 part 1099-NEC for 2021, I would request a refund from the vendor you purchased from...
Your only recourse at this point is at you mentioned. Purchase more forms, or efile.
This has been a really frustrating situations for many of us this year as the change in format was not publized well by the IRS, Intuit, or form vendors. Caught me by surprise too!

Good Luck!
Okay I see now. I appreciate you replying with the information I needed. You are right, we purchased miscellaneous forms by mistake, and had to repurchase the correct ones.
Thanks for answering my request.
Did all that with the critical fixes updates and still comes up as 2 part for the 10996-NECs Did it twice and still the same 2 part

I've done everything suggested and mine is still printing 2 to a page. Is there a resolve coming out or when will this be fixed?
I have mac 2019 desktop version. I am trying to print 1099 forms which I bought from office depot. The purchased forms are two per page and my QuickBooks is trying to print 3 per page. Is there a way I can print 2 per page or do I need to buy new forms?
Thank you for joining the thread, Jeff.
What we have now is the 3-forms per page format, and we're unable to change it. You can buy new forms from the retail stores or through QuickBooks Checks & Supplies: https://intuitmarket.intuit.com/tax-forms/1099-forms.
If you have other questions about printing 1099-NEC, feel free to go back to this thread. Take care!
Quickbooks Pro is printing 2022 on pre-printed forms box "For Calendar Year 20_____ " Result: calendar year 202022 According to Quickbooks tech thread, this is acceptable. According to IRS agent that I called on Friday IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE as Copy A needs to be scanned and will only recognize a 4-number year.
Please advise when this will be fixed by Quickbooks.
I have updated everything and it is not printing a year at all. Any idea how to get the year to print?
Hi there, @tradecfo. It's good to know that you've updated everything on your end. I'm here to help ensure you'll be able to print your 1099-NEC in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
Since the issue still persists, let's rename the Qbprint.qbp file to resolve printing issues.
Here's how:
Once done, try to open and print the forms again.
You can check out this article for more information: Rename the Qbprint.qbp file.
I'm also adding this article that contains additional information on how to fix printing issues: Troubleshoot Issues with Printing and .PDF Files.
Let me know in the comment below if you require further assistance in printing 1099 forms. I'd be glad to help. Take care and have a great day!
