I've set up my individual rental properties as classes in QuickBooks for Mac 2019 and it looks like I can get a "profit and loss report by class" but I'm not finding a "balance sheet report by class." How do I get this or is their a workaround?
Hi there, Bruuske,
I'm here to get the help you need in pulling up a Balance Sheet Report by Class.
Here's what you'll need to do:
That's it! If there's anything else you need help with in pulling up reports, please feel free to reach back out. Have a great day!
Hi MirriamM,
Thanks for your reply. I'm still having trouble finding the "balance sheet by class report." I've attached a screenshot of what I see in the reports menu. I'm running QuickBooks for Mac 2019 and I've attached a screenshot of the exact version that I'm using.
Before I purchased this version new a few months ago, the Quickbooks salesperson assured me that the features of the Mac version were identical to the PC version so I'm hoping I can get this report working.
Cheers,
Chris
Hello there, @Bruuske.
I appreciate you coming back to us for additional support and providing more details. Allow me to join this thread and share some more insights about the available reports in Mac.
Currently, you can only pull up the Balance Sheet by Class report in the PC version. As a workaround, you can customize the available Balance Sheet reports in QuickBooks for Mac to filter it by class.
Here's how:
To know more about customizing reports, please check this link: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop
While we don't have a direct report in QB Mac, I'd suggest sending feedback to our Product Developers. By doing so, this will help us make the request for the feature to be included in future updates.
I'm going to send the same request over here on my side, so we're getting them through both employee and customer channels.
Let me know if there's anything else I can help you today. I'm just a comment away. Have a nice day ahead.
Thank you so much for jumping in on this thread HoneyLynn_G!
I'm following your directions exactly. When I select "Balance Sheet Summary" I get the attached drop down. I don't see an option for to "Customize Report" How do I proceed?
You need to click a different icon to get there, Bruuske.
When opening the Balance Sheet Summary, you can click the Filters (funnel) icon instead of the Customize Report option. You'll find this option in the top left of the report Toolbar. Once the filters are maximized, check the tick box for Class and choose All Classes. Lastly, click the Apply button to see the data on the report.
Please get back to me if you're able to generate the report you need. I'll be right here to help you some more.
Hi SophiaAnnL
Thanks for jumping in to help. I got the filters selected as you describe but that still doesn't give me a report with the Classes as columns and a total on the far right like I get with the P/L by Class report. I'm just getting the one column with the totals of all the classes.
Thanks,
Chris
Hello again, Bruuske.
Thank you for getting back and trying the recommendation given by my colleague.
Normally, you should be able to tick the Class box after clicking the Filter icon. Since you don't have this option, I recommend calling our phone support. They can initiate a screen sharing session to help you more in customizing your report.
Here is the link on how and when to contact them:
And of course, I’m here to help you if you have other concerns. Please also keep me posted on how the call goes. I'd like to make sure this is taken care of.
Hi HoneyLynn_G
I called customer support and the Mac version just can't do the same thing as the PC version, i.e. generate a Balance Sheet by Class. They tried some customizations and couldn't get anything to generate Balance Sheet that had columns for each Class and a totals column.
The only thing we can do is put in a product feature request, which I did. I'm hoping that report gets added soon as it's critical to my business, which is probably why it's featured in the PC version.
Cheers,
Chris
Hi, @Bruuske.
Thanks for getting back on this thread. We value your feedback and product suggestions and I appreciate you sending some.
These requests and suggestions are forwarded directly to the Product Development Team for consideration in future updates. This will also help them know how this feature will make your QuickBooks experience smoother. Please know that I'm going to send feedback regarding this as well.
Thanks for being a part of our QuickBooks family. Should you have any follow-up questions or concerns, please let me know in the comment section. Take care and have a great rest of the day!
I'm also having a similar issues. At the moment, I'm less concerned about reports rather I need to know how to continue to enter class specifications on transactions such as defining things while writing a check. For example here's a screenshot of a check I wrote back in July of 2018. When this check was written, there was an additional column to the right of the check boxes for me to enter class. There are many Customer:Jobs that fall under each class. Not only can I not enter this properly any more, but I also cant view it on past checks. Please advise on how to enter class specifications on such transactions.
Thanks for joining in the thread, @Cori Aurora.
Allow me to join the conversation and help enter class specification on your transactions.
It appears that you haven't turned on your class tracking yet that's why you can't view this even if you specify the class specification on each of your transactions. Let me provide you with the following steps below to ensure your class tracking is on.
