I would like to clean up my chart of accounts by updating the name of a bank account from Washington Mutual to Chase Bank. This happened years ago and there was no change in the bank feeds information. When I try to change the name, the system tells me "you must enter a value for all of the fields on the Online Services Tab". I do not want to deactivate and reactivate
This isn't the kind of issue we'd like you to experience when editing your account, Jandy. I'm here to assist you in resolving this error.
I've replicated your goal and was able to modify the bank's name in the Chart of Accounts window. Since you encountered an error, I'd recommend running the Verify and Rebuild Data utility. The tool scans data issues within the company file and self-resolves them.
Here's how to verify data:
Here's how to rebuild the data:

Additionally, I've included an article that'll help categorize and manage your accounts in QuickBooks Desktop. This ensures you're able to break down how much money you have (or owe): Learn About the Chart of Accounts.

I have the same problem. The odd thing is that since Quickbooks quit supporting desktop, all of my bank feeds are disabled. But I cannot change the name of a bank account. I've tried typing random numbers into each field, but it still gives me the same error message.
I understand how important smooth functionality is for your business operations, BethSage.
The error message "You must enter a value for all of the fields on the Online Services Tab in QuickBooks Desktop" typically occurs when you try to save or update your online services settings in QuickBooks Desktop, but some required fields are left blank. To resolve this error, you need to make sure that you have entered values for all the mandatory fields on the Online Services Tab.
Here are the steps to check and fill in the required fields:
By ensuring that all the mandatory fields on the Online Services Tab are filled in correctly, you should be able to save or update your online services settings without encountering the error message.
Also, let's make sure to update your QuickBooks to have the latest features and needed patches. If the same thing happens, you can open a different or a sample company file to test if you'll get similar results.
However, I suggest contacting our phone support team since the unexpected behavior persists. To reach them:

But I have deactivated online services. Why does it still need that information? That's just silly (and a waste of my time)
I just sent a photo. There is no "Online Services" in the Checking setting.
I appreciate your efforts in resolving your banking concern in QuickBooks Desktop, Beth. I want to provide clarification on this.
Based on the screenshot you shared, it seems that the QuickBooks version (2020) you're currently using is discontinued and no longer supported. Consequently, all the online services within the Bank Feed section have been deactivated automatically. This is the reason why you're getting the error when changing the bank account. I suggest going to your Bank Feed Settings and manually disabling online services. I'll show you how:
Once you've completed that step, you can then proceed to modify the name on your bank account, and you'll be all set.

Yes, I know you no longer support desktop. I said that in my original post.
I also said that my bank feeds are deactivated. I'm sending another screen shot to prove it.
So that has no effect at all on this problem.
I can only add one attachment, so I'm sending a second message in a minute.
Here's the screen shot to show that I still get that message.
So I will start all over again. Please read all of this:
1. QuickBooks decided to stop supporting Desktop 2020.
2. Since then ALL of my bank and credit card accounts have been Deactivated for bank feeds. There are no accounts on my Bank Feeds page, in fact, it won't even let me open it.
3. I just want to change the name of a bank account.
4. When I edit the account and click on save, I get a message that says I must "enter a value for all of the fields on the Online Services tab."
5. I don't have an "Online Services" tab.
6. I went into the Bank Feeds tab and typed in numbers hoping that would make it happy. It did not.
Result: There is no way to change the name of the bank account.
I'm sure you mean well, but is there someone else who can look at this?
I appreciate you getting back with additional information, BethSage. It's my top priority to assist you in modifying your bank's name in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

I am having the same issue. Our bank updated its platform and the transactions all downloaded under a new account. I need to move them to the correct account - not the auto generated one they are at now. I was thinking I could just make the new account a sub account of the original. But I am coming up with the same error message. "You must enter a value for all of the fields on the Online Services Tab"
I do not have a Online Services tab nor the bank feeds tab as shown on your screen shots above. I am running QB desktop Enterprise 22.0
Thank you!
It's great to see you chiming in on this thread, KateShanley. I know how essential it is to download your bank transactions to the correct account in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). Let me share an alternative way to handle your transactions seamlessly.
You'll want to merge these accounts instead to move the downloaded transactions to the correct account. However, you'll have to temporarily disable the online services before you can combine them. Before that, ensure you categorize your downloaded transactions for the account and secure a backup copy of your company file before starting the process. If changes occur, having a backup copy allows you to restore it to undo the changes.
Then, here's how you can turn Bank Feeds off:
Once done, follow these steps to combine your bank accounts:
Once done with the merging process, you can reconnect the bank account to online banking to download the latest transactions. Check out this article for further guidance: Set up or edit bank accounts for Bank Feeds in QuickBooks Desktop.
However, if the issue persists after performing the steps above, I recommend reaching out to our Technical Support Team. One of our experts has the necessary tools to check your account securely and perform a screen-sharing session to assist you further.
Please know I'm always here to lend a hand if you have any questions or concerns about managing your bank accounts in QBDT. See you again, and have a good day!
