Thank you for your feedback, steverileycpa.
I would recommend sending it through QuickBooks, so our engineers will be able to here your voice. We have a different team who handles feedback, and they should be able to consider things that are favorable to our customers. You can also add more suggestions to enhance the new design instead of having to go back to the original one.
Let me know if you have other questions in mind. Take care and have a good one!
Modern reports are horrible and I can't believe ya'll are going to change some to them permanently. All I do is waste time changing back to classic and loosing the date as other's have saidl.
I sent Feedback via the gear icon. I mentioned the tons of posts from users who also find the Modern View reports terrible (with no user preferring the Modern View) and that the moderators are saying the developers don't read the message boards and they won't let the developers know about the chatter on the message boards.
I specifically mentioned in my feedback that Modern View won't allow for the same level of customizing that the Classic View does. In Modern View, when I try to change the columns, some columns have their box checked even though they don't show up on the report; if I try to check a box to add a column, I get an error message about not being allowed to exceed 20 columns (even though the report only shows 10 columns).
I rarely comment on the community anymore because I long ago realized the futility of it. I don't know why they even ask for feedback or come up with those useless "fixes". I have been using QuickBooks products since their inception and have seen many times when the community is totally up in arms about an inconvenient "fix" or new "feature". I had someone from QB actually call me recently and ask what concerns and/or problems I may be having. I explained to her that recently, QB started those stupid, annoying pop up ads for this or that "new feature". They don't give you a "NO" option, only "TAKE ME THERE" or "MAYBE LATER" and, of course, it is right where you control the screen so you can't continue unless you respond. I wonder what non-accountant thought that one up? It's just that I remember ABOUT A DECADE AGO when the QB community was up in arms about pop up ads on QBO. They still have them...
Oh my god, have you all seen this? They are legitimately NOT LISTENING to anyone. I have fired so many clients because they won't move away from QBO, and I only have three left on QBO. Please, please, try and find a way to move away from this corporate sleaze.
They are forcing you to move to modern view, despite all of the feedback.
Hey, community mods, are you employees? If not, stop helping them push their propaganda. If you are, then you know you're lying. I'd rather you not say anything than pretend like you care what users of your b.s. application think.
So I see that the Modern View of a transaction report will be mandatory soon, at least for some reports. I clicked on the link "get more information" that Intuit provided with the message, but it doesn't actually give more information--the link goes to customizing reports, but it's not clear on the surface what they mean by sending you there. Maybe I'll take a better look later on. Or maybe I'll just be pleasantly surprised . . . heh. We need a little humor here . . .
It almost seems like Intuit has decided to cripple QBO, but why? And making your customers hate you this unilaterally doesn't seem like a good money-making strategy, so what's with this behavior . . ?
I've long thought that the idiomatic expression "Round-Into-It" for a trash can said something about direction of Intuit's company path, maybe it's their long term business plan.
I meant to say "a round toit."
I keep trying to fix the Round Intuit, to round toit. But I can't seem to, so I guess it's more accurate to say Round Intuit and should let it stand.
Guess I have to let that error Round Intuit stand as is, I can't seem to edit it.
But it did get me to a level 2, something or other. Okay.
I'm trying to fix my mistake about a round tuit, but Intuit won't let me. So I guess I have to let a Round Intuit stand.
This is yet another example of someone that needs just the classic view versus the modern view. The modern view is too complicated and very volatile. You are hurting small business owners by over complicating a report and system that was originally intended for the small business owner. If you make it too difficult for them to use, they will find an alternative.
What have you had your clients move to? I worked for an organization that had their clients on Xero, which I would describe as QB-lite, though it did have some valuable features that QB did not.
another weird thing i just noticed - in classic view.. i'm sure i would go to chart of accounts (classic view) and click on an account and the account detail / transactions would open up. Now its going to the edit account box.. is my memory faulty or did this get changed up!??! It was always easy enough to edit an account.. but not accessing the transaction data (that's my preferred way through the COA.. unless i've forgotten!!)
Can anyone verify that my memory is right? (or wrong)
Yes, your memory is right, rovieng.
QuickBooks Online (QBO) frequently updates its software to improve performance, add new features, and address security or compliance requirements. These updates are essential to ensure the software remains reliable, secure, and up-to-date with the latest accounting standards and regulations.
There are several changes made to the Chart of Accounts page. One of them is when editing an account or viewing transactions. I understand the importance of switching back to the old interface. I encourage sending a feature request directly to our Product Development team. Doing so helps us improve your experience and the functionality of the program.
Here's how:
Your valuable feedback goes to our Product Development team to help improve your experience in QuickBooks Online. You can track feature requests through the QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website.
You can get back on this thread to stay informed if there are any updates regarding the availability of the option. If you have any other questions about the recurring feature and other program's functionalities, please don't hesitate to keep us posted.
Thanks! feedback sent. I hope you guys are also sending feedback to developers. you guys have to deal with all the discontent.. can you just tell them to stop changing things.. we were happy with how things were!! If you get lots of feedback for something new - add it but don't change the old ways.
i don't need to click on an account and go to edit.. i usually need to go to the transactions. i will edit it another way or the arrow on the side that used to be there.. but having NO way to go to see the transctions from the report page is really hard to get around.
Got this message today:
After December 14, 2023, some reports will only be available in the modern view.Find out more.
PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS!!
The "modern" reports are frustrating to use, assume things different from what I need, and generally are less useful.
Fix the "modern" reports BEFORE you force users to only use them.
I get that your team is convinced that these are "so much better" than the classic -- but I don't agree and I don't want to change until the modern reports work better.
i also like the classic view which provide easier way of viewing the accounts
I hope this turns out to not be the case, modern view reports are not very useful.
There is a way to stop the system forcing you to Modern Reports and default to Classic (in most cases)....for now.
If you are using Chrome or Edge browsers, download the browser extension: HTTP Request Blocker (google.com)
Once installed, click Add new (pattern) and add this text below and save:
*://*.universalreportinsights.api.intuit.com/v1/reports/legacy/qbo/convertToCapabilityReport
I haven't tested it too much and my usage might be completely different to other users so let everyone know if it causes some other issue.
It also hides the modern view button, so if you use those, then don't do this.
If you have problems, just remove the Chrome/Edge extension.
How do I set a global customization? I do not want to customize every single GL I need to look at when reviewing the books. I want to customize the reports globally so when I run the P&L or the B/S and drill down into one of the GLs I will have the same customized layout every time.
The new layout uses confusing language to describe the columns AND it duplicates names even though the data in those columns are different.
For example, there are two column headers named "Account Name". That header lists the GL account being viewed and the GL account the transaction was split with. These are two totally different pieces of information yet the column header reads the same.
Furthermore, the "Account Name" column header is for GL being viewed but "Full Name" column header is ALSO for that same GL being viewed but adds the GL # in front of the GL name (i.e. Account Name = Distributions & Full Name = 320 Distributions). This is unnecessarily confusing - it takes up space and because someone decided to put the Date column (which is actually important) all the way to the far right depending on your monitor size you may be required to scroll to the right to see data you actually need unlike if that information is placed on the left side of the screen the result never requires scrolling because the layout always defaults to reading from left to right.
Please globalize the customization so we do not have to customize each time we drill down into a GL on a report. This will be very important is the classic view is set to expire in just a few days.
Thank you for joining the thread, @JKubinski.
Let me help customize your GL or Account List report for reviewing your books and ensure your input on the new report layout is heard.
As of now, there's no option for global customization for the reports. You'll have to customize the Account or GL list report the time you drill them down in the P&L and BS statements. You can only memorize or save the current customization settings and access them in the Custom reports tab.
As for the Account Name and Full Name headers in the report, we can remove the Account Name header since both of them populate the same data. Here's how:
Next, although the Created date appears on the far right of the report by default, you can also move it to somewhere more visible.
Please check also the Custom reports tab to review if the customizations have been saved.
After this, I encourage submitting feedback within your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account for the globalize customization option for the GL report and your overall experience with the new layout. Your input will highlight where the software needs improvement. Here's how:
For future reference, let me add this guide on closing your previous fiscal year and preparing for the new one in QBO: Year-end guide for QuickBooks Online.
Let us know if you have further updates on navigating the new layout when running reports in QBO. We're here to assist. Stay safe.
@AlverMarkT thank you for all of that information - now imagine having to do all of that manipulating EVERY.SINGLE.TIME. you open an account. This is an endless task for accountants on a day to day basis and we do not have the time to manipulate reports to view the necessary information every time we open it!
Classic view should not be taken away especially not RIGHT before tax season-the busiest part of the year! I have submitted my feedback to QBO developers using the feedback feature and but that does not mean any change will happen. We are voicing our concerns and QBO is NOT responding appropriately.
TOTALLY AGREE!!!! HATE HATE HATE MODERN VIEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
JUST SAW THAT CLASSIC VIEW WILL NO LONGER BE AVAILABLE AFTER DECEMBER 14, 2023. THIS IS SO DISAPPOINTING!!!!! I HATE MODERN VIEW!!!!!!!
