My invoices have quit printing out the first line of the detail. I don't know what I did to make this happen or if it was an update change...
Let's check the settings to add those missing items when printing an invoice, @kimme04611.
You can go to the Additional Customization window to check if you've included the header when printing the invoice.
Check the following steps:

Thank you for your quick reply. If you look at the first picture in my question, it is a screen shot of the invoice creation screen and you will note that the first line of the invoice has an item code and then the description: Repair … then below that (basically in the same description area) there is a line for serial number, unit# and model#. The next line has an item code and the description: Labor,....
Now, if you look at the second picture in my question, you will see a screen shot of the invoice that prints and the only line that prints is the line containing the "Labor,..."
I have been through the customization several times but can't see what would cause the first line of the system invoice to NOT physically print out.
Thanks for sharing a really good view of your template and how it was printing out, kimme04611.
Let's try a few steps to check if the template is damaged that might have caused the issue.
Start by making sure that your QuickBooks is on the latest maintenance release. Here's an article that'll guide you through:Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.
Once done, resort your template list. Here's how:
After resorting the list, print a sample invoice to check if the first line is already printing. Additional options are also shared here just in case the first line is still not printing:

Thank you for your input, however, none of those options worked.
I even took the Invoice template from QB and edited to a new one...that line STILL does not print. If I insert a line above it, it creates a space on the printed invoice but still does not print the next line. I have tried inserting a quantity number as well. I'm almost convinced there was some kind of "update" that created this problem.
I am creating these invoices from "estimates" that I am using as a "work order". I don't know if that has some bearing on this problem. But that's not new...just that top line that we enter equipment info doesn't print.
Hello, @kimme04611. I'd be happy to help you troubleshoot your QuickBooks to isolate the issue.
Let's begin by running the QuickBooks Tool Hub. I've provided steps below on how to download and install the program with ease:
Once the installation is complete and opened, then we can run the QuickBooks PDF & Print Repair Tool. Here's how:
If the issue persists, then I recommend contacting Desktop Support. They can get on a screen share with your permission and look further into this behavior. Here's how to get in touch:
