Do I need to keep the QuickBooks Essentials plan or can I downgrade to Start without losing my ability to manage tags, tag groups and show P&L per tags?

I am a single user, don't use bills and do not need to enter/track time... I thought by mistake probably that i could not manage reports by tags with simple start.

Tags are customizable labels that let you track transactions however you'd like. This feature is available in all QBO subscriptions. That said, you can downgrade to a simple start subscription while having the option to manage your reports by tags.

Hello. I'm on a trial using Simple Start. Can't seem to use tags. It's not appearing in the settings/lists/recording expenses or sales. Is it no longer available in Simple Start? Thanks

Tags are available now for all QuickBooks Online plans, @EmMendoz. Allow me to provide some steps to ensure you can utilize the feature.

 

Let's proceed to the Accounts and Settings menu to check if the tags feature is enabled. Here's how:

 

  1. Go to the Gears ⚙ icon.
  2. Choose Account and Settings.
  3. Click the Sales tab.
  4. In the Sales form content section, turn on Tags. 
  5. Select Save.

  6. Choose the Expenses tab.
  7. In the Bills and Expenses section, turn on the Show Tags field on expense and purchase forms. Then select Save.
  8. Click Done.

 

If the issue persists, we can perform some troubleshooting steps to fix this. There are times when the browser is full of frequently accessed page resources, which causes some errors or unusual responses. Let's start accessing your account using a different or private browser. You can use either of these shortcut keys:

 

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

 

Once you have successfully seen the tags, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. This is done to speed up the process the next time you do a transaction in QuickBooks Online. Also, an alternative way is to use other compatible browsers.
