Exporting Item List to Excel in QB for Mac

When I searched "how to export item list in QB for Mac to Excel" the answer gave me an instruction that wasn't available (choose MS excel)

How can I export my item list so that I can use it in Excel?

There is an option for an IIF file, not sure what that is, and when I chose that, I was never given a window to choose "where" to save it.  Said the export was successful, but I couldn't find the file.  And searching .iif did not come up with anything.

Exporting Item List to Excel in QB for Mac

Hi there, @cjschulz .

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community today.

I think the information that you searched for is correct.

The problem might be the setting about default download folders.

You can modify the settings and change default download folders on Mac. Here's how:

  1. Open the Safari app, then click on the Safari drop-down menu.
  2. Select Preferences.
  3. Ensure that the General tab is selected, then change the File Download Location to wherever you want.

I'll also include this article to help you know on how to import data: Import data into QuickBooks for Mac.

Since the steps shared didn't work, I'd recommend you contact our Customer Care team. They can take a closer look at the issue through screen-sharing and help you resolve the issue.

They can also request to investigate the issue whenever necessary.

for future reference, you can also check out this article: Update QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

Let me know if you have additional concerns. We're always glad to be of your service.

Thanks, but I'm not sure what setting the preferences in Safari will do.  I do not use Quickbooks OnLine.  I use the Mac Desktop version.

Exporting Item List to Excel in QB for Mac

I figured it out.  Instead of the List, I exported through the Inventory Worksheet.
