Using QBO - entering bills, improve data entry screens.
It is VERY inefficient to use the mouse for data entry. Example: New Transaction, Bill - QBO requires a mouseclick to the first field of entry, every time. Instead, QBO should pop the cursor to the first field of the entry (Vendor) automatically when the Enter Bill screen is presented. This will greatly improve the data entry speed.
Can I get an AMEN????
Your feedback is valuable to us, @sucklebuster,
I've tried this in my end using different browsers and the cursor pointed automatically to the Vendor field. There are instances when the pointer doesn't appear, but it only happens on the first entry.
Have you tried signing in to another browser or any private window? I need this information so I can check with our engineers on why this is happening.
Also, you can log your suggestions about the program by following the steps on this link. We would love to hear how we can help our customers improve our products and services.
Kindly update me on how things go. I'll be right here if you need further help. Have a good one.
I tried (windows 10) both Chrome and Edge, both have the same results. The cursor pops to the Vendor field momentarily, then disappears...
Hello, sucklebuster. Thanks for trying the troubleshooting steps recommended by my colleague, Jen_D. I have some insight to provide about how QuickBooks Online works with a computers mouse cursor.
When using this platform to enter bills, the Vendor field on our record entry screen will be defaulted to initially. In my personal experience, it did this for me in both Google Chrome and Internet Explorer, without having to click to the Vendor box. Here's an animated image of myself performing this action in IE:
In the animation above, the first field is being selected without my mouse being used. Meaning the cursor wasn't being controlled in any way to make it choose anything. Most data entry screens (invoice, expense, check, etc.) auto-default to the first field on the page. If this isn't working for you in your browsers, you'll want to try clearing cached files and Intuit-specific cookies. It's also recommended to verify our minimum system requirements are being met.
To clear up some confusion, our website doesn't take control of your pointer, then automatically move it anywhere. I double checked our database to be certain and wasn't able to find any official Intuit resources which discuss such an ability. What should be happening, is the first field should be being selected on most of these data entry screens when they're initially pulled up. If you click anything once the screen displays, it may make this function not work as intended.
If you have any other questions, I'll be here to help. Have a great day!
ZackE - thanks for the detailed reply.
I have recently reinstalled windows 10 from scratch, Chrome, and Edge - I think this would take care of the cookies and cache issues, right?
Pretty sure my machine is way above standard...
Intel i7 64 bit, with 32 gig Ram, Windows 10 - connected to a T1.
Should I call support? I have a screen capture/movie if it would help?

The past couple of days, the cursor does not move back to the vendor field when I enter Save and New. It is time consuming to have to stop and move the cursor back up. Why would this have changed? How do I change it back? I use the Chrome browser.
Thanks.
Grace
