How do I view past checks that have already been printed?

I have a check listed in my QBO register, but it has not yet cleared my bank.  How do I see if this check was actually printed or not?

Is there a place to view all printed checks?

How do I view past checks that have already been printed?

Hello there toddplunk,

I'd be happy to help you.

You can run the Check Detail report and customize it by printed checks details.

Here’s how to run the report:

  1. Click Reports on the left navigation pane.
  2. In the Go to report search field, type in Check Detail.
  3. Click the Customize button at the upper right corner.
  4. Click Filter section, select Check Printed and click the dropdown arrow and click Printed option.
  5. Click Run report.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Hi there, Zohan.

Thanks for getting back to us.  I'd be happy to assist you with reprinting checks in QuickBooks Online.

I want to make sure that I provide you the right resolution. May ask if you received an error message while reprinting the checks? For us to check if there's a related issue with the concern. If not, you can follow these steps to reprint the check with the correct year.

Here's how:

  1. From the left menu, select Reports.
  2. Look for  Check Detail report.
  3. Select the correct date period from the drop-down.
  4. From the report, select the check you'd like to print.
  5. If you're printing a single check, select Print check.

For more details about the process, you can check out this article about printing a check: Print a check-in QuickBooks Online

Also, you can check out this article about reprinting checks and sales forms in QuickBooks Online for your reference: How to reprint checks and sales forms.

Tag me in the comments below if you have other questions about printing in QBO. I'll be sure to get back to you.

How do I view past checks that have already been printed?

too bad there isnt a button that you can click that will bring up your check register.

like there was one in the desktop version.

why make things hidden? this should be readily available to look at. not hidden in a search option

It isn't hidden, stupidusername.

QuickBooks is available in two versions: QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) and QuickBooks Online (QBO). The QBDT platform is installed locally and has a vastly different function than the Online version which is cloud-based.

The largest differences between the two platforms are found in their features. Some feature is in QuickBooks Desktop isn't available in QBO and this includes the button to open the check register. You can run the Check Detail report to see those printed checks and from there you can open the transaction to print it.

You can follow the steps provided by my colleague above to reprint the check or visit this article for more information: How to reprint checks and sales forms

Additionally, you may also customize your report to see only the data that matters to you.

Feel free to drop by anytime if you have other questions. We're always here to assist you.

The biggest difference is you took things that were simple to do and made them difficult to find or do within QBO.

Coming from the desktop version to the QBO version is a difficult process. Spending more time googling how to do things instead of doing them.

You get my point? To have to search for something indicates that its hidden.
Why not make a button to press ONE TIME to access some of the basic things when running a business?

I want to see the checks that have been written.

We're taking notes of your feedback and suggestion, @stupidusername.

I know that there are some features in QuickBooks Desktop you'd like to have in QuickBooks Online, such as the ability to access the check register with a single click. Please know that all suggestions are being considered by our product engineers based on the volume of requests and their influence on the user interface before they are implemented.

For now, I encourage submitting feedback directly to our product engineers. They may look into this suggestion and consider adding the option in the future update. To send feedback, you can go to the Gear icon and select Feedback. Then, enter your suggestion and click Submit.

You might also want to view all your vendor transactions in QBO. This will help you access each vendor's records, edit and view the status of their transaction.

Please know that I'm just a reply away if you need any further assistance managing transactions. I'll be sure to get back to you, @stupidusername.

Hey there, Eric1957. I know some steps that can help you find the Check Details Report in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

You can find the Check Details report within the Reports menu. Afterward, you can also customize it according to your preference.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu located at the left navigation panel under the Customer & Leads menu.
  2. In the search bar, type Check Detail, then click it.
  3. (Optional) Click the Switch to Classic View
  4. Scroll up, and you'll see the Report period dropdown. You can click it and choose the date that you'd want to see in your report.

You can refer to this material to learn more about how to customize your report: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online

Furthermore, you can also use this guide if you want to print, email, or export your reports: Run reports in QuickBooks Online

If you have questions aside from the check detail report, you can always ask us by replying or posting your inquiries in the Community forum.
