To further check your account, I'd suggest requesting a callback. One of our Customer Care Support will get in touch with you and further investigate the issue you are experiencing.
Here are the steps:
Please let me know how the call went or if you have other concerns. Take care and stay safe.
@RenjolynC It's cute how you seriously think you're posting information we ALL don't already have, and STILL DIDN'T ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS. (Sarcasm intended)
I requested TWO chats, so I didn't have to tie up the phone line. NO ONE HAS RESPONDED to my request. NO ONE at Intuit is of ANY help. This post is NOT a request for ANYONE to tell me how to "contact" Intuit. I know how!! No chat response and NO callback ever happens.
I have found that you can "Make a Payment" from the list of vendors and then choose the individual invoices being paid. But if I actually click on the vendor it prompts the "Schedule Payment". I've just been clicking on it from the vendor list. QB won't fix a thing. It's been months.
Click on drop down where "Schedule Onlkine Payment" is. And click on "Mark Paid" It will take you to the usual window that was the default.
I tried clicking on Mark Paid and it brought up the the old Bill Payment window that lets me pay by check. I think this works. Thanks!
Why is Quickbooks trying to piss off the customers by having them click more just so they think they can get market us? Very unprofessional specially in these times. Lets make your life even harder QB users, here an extra step, thanks to QB team. If they don't fix soon I will start looking at other options. There are always other options. QB invoicing feature sucks anyway.
@User 99 Sadly, QB doesn't see anything as needing fixed. I received an email from them, back when all of this started, and they said "It's working as it should". BIG BUNCH OF HOGWASH!!
They plan on keeping it as is, instead of giving us, the CUSTOMERS a choice.
I agree. The worst is the roll out of this doesn't appear to have happened to all of us at the same time so it's not a "feature improvement" in the classic sense where everyone is "upgraded" to the new version of QuickBooks Online.
It just started doing this today 6/22/2020 for me. There tech support said it happened months ago, which based on other posts, it did to others as early as March 2020.
Others have documented the workarounds for cutting checks, which are to 1) make them from the expense tab (you will still see Make Payment there) or 2) Select Mark as Paid (however, really does this signify Make Payment to you? This wording makes me want to avoid clicking it if I want to cut a check! 3) If you are tricked into clicking Schedule Payment, you will be greeted with marketing for the Bill Pay which in very small lettering says "You’ll be asked to opt in to “Bill Pay”.
It seems to be designed for a user to accidentally sign up to this Bill Pay Service. I recall about a year ago a similar Opt-In features for a more expensive version of QuickBooks Online (Advanced I believe) which had similar mod-of-operation.
None of this seems to be necessary QuickBooks, you have good software and support and are raising your fees frequently so why this? It makes users unhappy and makes us start to question the use of the product. Marketing driven changes like this that take time away from other tasks to figure out how to make something work that did so just a "feature" ago really is annoying to business owners and employees who are doing the accounting.
Same here. Just started happening to us today 6/22/20. This is a very poor attempt at a money grab by QB. Seems like a very cunning and deceptive way to get a few more bucks out of us long time customers. Our vendors don't want 'online payments' or 'checks issued on my behalf'. They want a real check signed by ME! Don't try to overcomplicate the system QuickBooks, you're taking a simple process and making it overly complicated and expensive.
June 24, 2020 and this "Schedule Payment" feature just appeared on our account. This is incredibly frustrating and it makes NO SENSE that QB would automatically turn on this feature without notice to the account holder. The admin of the account should be able turn off this feature without spending hours on the phone with QB, interfering with out employees' productivity. I have tried to clear the cache and it doesn't work. Where's the setting to turn it off?? I should not have to contact customer support to fix this.
Hello there, @kbd.
I know how important to your business to disable the scheduled payment since this is the latest feature updates in QuickBooks Online, we don't have any option to disable the schedule payment feature once it's already in your QuickBooks Online account.
However, if you want to pay your bill manually, you can simply click the arrow icon next to the Schedule Payment and select the Mark as paid. The Make payment option has been changed to Mark as paid.
You can read these articles for more detailed information about the online bill payment feature in QuickBooks Online:

This situation was created to strong arm customers into signing up for a service that don't want.
I suggest everyone else do the same.
$ months have passed and still, this issue is not corrected. WE pay a monthly fee for the use of this product. Do we get reimbursed for the extra time it now takes to process checks, online payments and partial payments? That would actually total more than the monthly fee that I pay for the product, (that is supposed to be a tool. ) So, do I now get to use the product for free, since it now cost me more than I pay for it to use it effectively? I have to make up to triple the entries per payment. Multiply that times thousands of transactions per year, and I am losing money; and paying a monthly fee to do so. I have spent the time to set up my recurring payments through my banking institution - I don't need another! I also, don't need to take the extra time to make "corrections" to every payment transaction. This is literally costing my company hundreds of dollars in payroll cost.
Quick Books was able to code its program to force its clients into using this monopolized change. But, is unable to dismantle the "upgrade". How unfortunate.
I am looking into new accounting products that do not cost me $ and additional time to use them. Making the change will be difficult at first, but, overall- will cost me less to use. Potentially saving me hundreds per month in payroll cost.
If I used the "mark as paid feature what do I do with the credits from that vendor?
Hello, @leeronk68.
You can create a vendor credit. You can use this in paying future bills or record the actual vendor refund you've received. I can guide you on how to do it.
Once completed, let's create a Bank Deposit to deposit the actual vendor refund you've received. Here’s how:
On the other hand, if you choose to apply the credit to any open or future bill. Here's how:

I just discovered this thread and THANK GOD! I thought I was going crazy. I see that this "Schedule Payment" nonsense has been happening since late Feb but today was the first I've seen it. I pay bills every Monday, it was fine last Monday so sometime between 6/22 & 6/29 the update hit my account and I HATE IT! I've spent hours on the phone with 2 different QB support members, neither of whom knew anything about this "new" update. I was somewhat sympathetic with their lack of knowledge because I thought it was something new but now I find out this has been happening for months and I'm not the only one who hates it. Not only has QB NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM, but the customer support people are claiming, as of today, to know nothing about it. I'm so irritated and I feel like I'm being manipulated into using this stupid auto pay service. I took the advice I found here (THANK YOU) and I was able to click the down arrow next to "Schedule Payment", select "Mark as Paid" and process checks the way I used to but seriously!? WTF QB?! Why should I have to do that? This is not free software, I pay for this service and I should be able to use it the way that is best for my business. Apparently I am not the only person still sending checks. Also, since it seems you've decided to keep this feature, could you please issue a memo to your support team and let them know the work around described in my comment. It is much better advice than I was able to get from anyone I spoke with today. Well, that was 4 hours of my life I won't get back. Thanks for nothing Quickbooks.
This is Intuit's way of upselling Bill Payment service, which I wasn't opt-in. I escalated to QB support manager and he told me that this is the part of new feature they deployed. And asked me to call Melio Payments, which is the online payment provider. Their number is (917) 728-1207. When you call, you will hear VM saying none is available now. I wonder why Intuit is so desperate to upsell Online Payment service and deploy to all their user without any consent. This is absolutely unacceptable and I will also file a legal complaint. It is too bad that I have seven QBO accounts stuck with this monopoly.
we are moving to XERO. Cheaper and much faster/cleaner. Forcing the bill pay service on us was the final straw, and there are a ton of really nice add-ons for Xero that let you go completely paperless with OCR and invoice approval workflow.
I am not sure one could have chosen a worst description than Mark As Paid.
I am dropping QuickBooks, moving to another system. It has been slow and buggy the past 12 months and this is adding a ton of time to our bill pay process.
After two days of communication between Intuit and Melio Payments, it seems clear that Intuit is forcing a subscriber to use the Melio Online Bill Payment service without a user consent. QBO doesn't provide an option to disable Melio payment. Only work around is to click a tiny drop down button to mark it as Paid. This is absolutely disaster and fooling Intuit users. Intuit appears desperate to profit from "Schedule Payment" option. As this is a clear deceptive tactic and it doesn't offer a user to disable it, there are two remedies we can:
1. File a complain to FTC as a deceptive practice
2. File a class action lawsuit as many users here already wasted countless hours to avoid clicking "Schedule Payment"
Filing a complaint to FTC is easy process and I hope we will get some attention instead of this robotic reply.
Welcome to the Community, @guppygames.
Intuit has partnered with Melio to make online bill payments as seamless as possible. That being said, we made Melio an add-on service to QuickBooks Online. If you would rather pay your bills manually, you can still do so by clicking the "Mark as Paid" option. While we’re still working on making this option sustainable for every user, we don’t have an option to disable this just yet.
I’d also like to reassure you that we’re taking notes of all your feedback. This helps us understand how the add-on service has been working for you so far, and what we can do to make it better for every QBO user.
Please do know that we provide three more options when making an online payment using Bill pay by Melio.
Your options are:
· Bank Transfer/ACH, which is free.
· Pay with Credit Card which has a 2.9% fee.
· Paper Check for $1.99 per check.
Feel free to post if you have additional questions. Take care and stay safe.
We needed to apply vendor credits to our payment before printing a check. Our solution was easy. We clicked on the "+ NEW" tab, selected "CHECK" and all the invoices and credits show up in a list down the right side. Easy Peasy!
I am also looking for other solutions, and will check out XERO.
Also looking at FRESHBOOKS.
Correct. "Mark as Paid" now does exactly what "Make Payment" used to do. Which is completely and utterly idiotic. Why would a software engineer decide that this button should be labeled "Mark As Paid" when that's not what it does? My only hope is that they will correct this as quickly as they corrected that atrocious "new, focused dashboard" that an equally stupid person decided to implement a few months ago.
I don;t subscribe to Melio Pay. I still only have the option to "schedule payment." Get me my original "Make Payment" option back. Please. And fire the idiot who decided to stick us all with this. Thanks in advance.
