Depends on what you are trying to do and size of your accounting need. You can use Bill.com to do all the payables and receivables and run everything through Excel. OR if your needs are larger I use and or have used these in the past:
Sage Intacct - from the old PeachTree accounting
NetSuite - if your client is large enough. Offers a partnership program for accounting firms.
CS Accounting by Thomson & Reuters. Cost of the license but like the old QuickBooks desktop you can run multiple clients and there cloud system is better than the old QuickBooks Desktop file sharing.
QuickBooks is not the only game in town and the only thing Intuit will hear is the cash going out the door. They are ignoring their customers, what exactly is better about the new report views or invoices? The new report view is a horrible and costs me more time not less.
It's like they are a social media company trying to keep our attention with the constant changes to the User Interface. I don't need to relearn how to use your program and I'm spending too much time in your software as it is!!!
@MessariG RE: Please re-evaluate your description, "view for a better and more convenient experience" The new view is harder and way less convenient than the previous "experience". Another example of QBO telling the customer they don't know what they like.
Did you see the Emperor's new clothes? They're so beautiful! Made of such fine fabric.
Seriously, though, you know, as Intuit says, soon you'll love the new changes and wonder why you wanted functional invoices and reports in the first place! The new features are so modern and streamlined, since so many features have been removed. Much easier to use! And I think they'll look great on your iPhone, 'cause you know that's important!
And I think they'll look great on your iPhone, 'cause you know that's important!
Sadly enough, that is a major driver for anything that is software as a service these days. Intuit's target demographic is small businesses and a lot of those customers do most of their bookkeeping on the go. Intuit has always been marketed to people who don't have accounting backgrounds but need accounting services.
We've been giving feedback. QUICKBOOKS, LISTEN TO US!!!!
You're proving you do NOT care what your customers think. And, many of us are having to consider leaving the product and finding one that will meet our needs. It is frustrating to come here and see one after another after another saying we HATE the "modern view". I've not found one person (including the people who are your "experts") who has said that they like it. I don't think you've listened to the feedback at all.
Same here. I sent the email that they were taking classic view away permanently to the CEO...and then I got a response. I spoke with someone, and it was encouraging...promptly followed by discouragement as the follow up with the engineering team (promised) has not happened. Call them, email them, whatever you have to do. Go to corporate. We will not be heard elsewise.
Giving Feedback doesn't work. It is not listened to. I don't know if you don't read it, or just don't care. But stop acting like the Feedback works. It doesn't. I get an email thanking me for it, but nothing else. Not a follow up, not a call, not an email asking for more info. Nothing. The feedback is the proverbial "suggestion" box in the back of the room which I presume gets dumped periodically. The "Screen" shot option doesn't even work. and, there's not a way to upload a pic. You've got to be kidding me that you cannot make that work better.
AMEN
I believe the tech management team will not run this up the chain of command because they'll have to admit they created a major, unnecessary problem for their primary customers. I know accounting professionals who have stopped recommending Quickbooks to their clients. Tech would look bad if they confessed to what they've done. A reversal of their decision would harm egos.
This has been a miserable experience with ridiculous timing and there's no worse feeling than being ignored.
They know what they need to do.

What is the email & phone number?
@JB28277 RE: "The feedback is the proverbial "suggestion" box in the back of the room which I presume gets dumped periodically."
You're being too kind.
@entrelac "Intuit has always been marketed to people who don't have accounting backgrounds but need accounting services."
Then you'd think the smart business decision would be to offer different options for different plans. If our business is paying for premium services, then why would they remove Classic features from our plan to be more in-line for Modern basic users? Intuit products are becoming unusable for their premium users.
Modern view is the WORST. Stop forcing ridiculous new enhancements like this on us.
Classic View is faster, more streamline, preserves screen space, and is frankly better.
AGREED!

Holy crap Quickbooks, why? Just why did yall have to update the app? The new style is way more complicated and it doesn't have every feature the old feature has. Example, when you convert estimates to invoices you can't write type in a description. So I'll have to go and open a whole new invoice instead of just hitting the convert button. Second example, I can't even go and add a discount. I have to just put my price down with the discount already deducted. I would be nice to show discounts on the invoice for customers to see. There's more little features missing on the new crap design. Seriously, change it back. Sad because I've had Quickbooks for 6+ years and I'm about to drop them. Holy crap, fix this and fix it fast!
Why is QB refusing to give customers what they want which is classic view. QB Online reporting was sold as so much better than Desktop, yet it actually is horrible. Did QB do anything to imporve reporting? No.
Can I assume QB Online will do nothing with this modern vs classic view? I shouldn't have to spend 20 minutes trying to reconfigure a saved report.
I guess this is what happens when you have no competition - you do whatever you want because you know you have little competition.
Seems to me I have seen an email announcing that Classic View will disappears from the Open Items Report.
RE: QB Online reporting was sold as so much better than Desktop, yet it actually is horrible.
Wow, I'm surprised Intuit is saying that. Almost amazed, really. QB Online's reporting has always been weak, never even close to QB Desktop in capability. This is either a result of Intuit's marketing team's willful ignorance or they're just flat out lying.
I am also very frustrated with most of the "updates" from QBO. I've learned to deal with most of them, but this one is a real pain in the rear end. Constantly having to switch back adds time to every task where I have to see the detail on an account!
I TOTALLY AGREE!!!! Modern View makes everything difficult at best, an additional cost in time it takes to constantly switch back, lacking ability to get useful information all the time, and a real pain in the rear end always!!!
For those of you who use Right Tool plug-in on Google Chrome, there is an icon in the dark blue strip that is a wrench and screwdriver. Click on that, then click on Classic Reports. You can make all your reports load automatically in Classic View from there.
Honestly, I have stopped using the QBO desktop app, because Right Tool makes using Chrome so much easier than the app.
Quickbooks modern view ...total worthless.
Agree that modern view is terrible and not functional in so many ways and difficult to navigate when I drill down on an account from the SOA or Balance Sheet. Modern view also shows incorrect balances when I drill down.
It is show the net of the ytd transactions as a balance. How can Intuit roll out a product so flawed?
