How do I duplicate an estimate since the update? I don't see the option. How do EDIT the SHIP TO address since the update?

Welcome to the Community, @matt239. I understand the importance of duplicating your estimates and editing your addresses for your business. Allow me to share insights on how it works in the new layout so you can add the details of your transactions.

QuickBooks Online (QBO) has features that could help your business grow. However, duplicating your estimates is currently unavailable in the recent updates.

I encourage you to send your suggestions directly to our Product Development Team. They'll carefully consider this option and work on ensuring meeting your business needs as effectively as possible.

To send feedback, here’s how:

  1. Click the Gear icon at the top, then Feedback.
  2. Indicate your comments or suggestions. Then select Next to submit feedback.

In regard to your ship-to-address, you can add them to your customer’s profile. Then, turn on the setting to show the shipping information in your invoices.

To add a shipping address to your customer's profile:

  1. Log into your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Go to Sales, then click Customers.
  3. Select the name of the customer you want to edit.
  4. Click Edit.
  5. Under Shipping address uncheck the Same as billing address checkbox.
  6. Enter the Shipping address.
  7. Select Save.

Once done, make sure you turn on the Ship To in the customization column of your invoices. With new invoicing, you can display or hide the shipping address directly on the invoice itself.

Here's how:

  1. Click + New, then select Invoice.
  2. Select Add Customer and choose a customer from the ▼ dropdown.
  3. Create the rest of the invoice as you normally would.
  4. Choose ⚙ Manage to add the customer’s shipping address to the invoice.
  5. Tap the Customization ▼ dropdown.
  6. Turn on the Ship to switch. A preview of the ship-to-address is displayed on the invoice.
  7. When you’re done with your invoice, select Save.

For more details about the process above, see this article: Add a customer’s shipping address to invoices in QuickBooks Online.

I’ll be sharing these resources that will guide you in sending estimates and converting them to an invoice:

If you have further questions regarding your estimates and ship-to-addresses or any QBO concerns, comment below. I’ll be happy to assist you anytime. Have a good day!

How do I duplicate an estimate since the update? I don't see the option. How do EDIT the SHIP TO address since the update?

Deleting a feature that I suspect most (if not all) QB online users use is ridiculous.

How do I duplicate an estimate since the update? I don't see the option. How do EDIT the SHIP TO address since the update?

I duplicate Estimates on a daily basis because my customers want changes and it's easier to duplicate an existing Estimate and change a couple things and resave rather than starting from scratch and having to go back-and-forth copying and pasting.  This is a terrible update due to this one lacking feature.  You need to add it back.

How do I duplicate an estimate since the update? I don't see the option. How do EDIT the SHIP TO address since the update?

The "Duplicate" command still exists for Invoices, so removing the simple feature of duplicating estimates seems completely arbitrary at best and an outright mistake at worst. Could the Community Team please stop trying to frame this as a feature suggestion that users must now plead for (and if enough people complain, it might return), when it's clearly an oversight or a cutting of corners on the development side?

That said, I'd love to be proven wrong on this and read the rationale, usability testing or user feedback that prompted the Product Development Team to remove a single, very basic feature from the Estimates dropdown that still remains for the Invoices dropdown.

How do I duplicate an estimate since the update? I don't see the option. How do EDIT the SHIP TO address since the update?

Yes!  PUT THIS FEATURE BACK!  Having to do an estimate from scratch when I need to make 2 versions to help a customer who asks for a couple estimates with various options is ridiculous. I have no idea who decided that the duplicate drop down was not important, but they are not an end user.

How do I duplicate an estimate since the update? I don't see the option. How do EDIT the SHIP TO address since the update?

It's Jan 2024. I just troubleshooted with a QB customer service agent about how the capability of duplicating estimates became unavailable virtually overnight after the update. They informed me that because I have QuickBooks Simple Start Plan (@$30/month aka $360/year) the new update got rid of the capabilities to duplicate estimates (even though the ability to duplicate invoices is still available). They also informed me that in order to get the ability to dupe estimates again, I'd have to bypass the next least expensive QB program (QB Essential @$60/month aka $720/year) and would have to register for the QB Plus software ($90/month aka $1,080/year) to get this simple feature that I had full access for just days ago. If I were to register for the QB Plus Software, in a year I'd be spending $720 more than I currently do as a small business owner (l am the only employee). This situation is absolutely ABSURD. I can understand upgrades and I can understand needing to raise rates to meet inflation, but this is down right disrespectful to clients. QB should not be allowed to change simple, available capabilities overnight and ask their clients to pay triple to get them again. I'm inclined to look elsewhere for my programming.

How do I duplicate an estimate since the update? I don't see the option. How do EDIT the SHIP TO address since the update?

I'm with LemonDrop.  This is ABSURD, insulting and disrespectful to loyal clients and small business owners like ourselves!  If you want to update software and remove capability at one level only to add it at a more expensive level for new customers, then I guess that's your prerogative.  But to do that for existing customers is ridiculous.  Imagine have a leased car and one morning you go out to start it and as you're driving down the freeway you find out the CCU was updated via wifi overnight and now in order to go over 65mph you have to pay a fee to the manufacturer.   You'd lose your mind.

I found the work around. I opened the estimate to edit mode. Then clicked the manage gear on the top of the screen. Then under the actions dropdown, clicked "make a copy". Then saved it. That duplicated it.

How do I duplicate an estimate since the update? I don't see the option. How do EDIT the SHIP TO address since the update?

The copy function works, but puts a message at the bottom of the document that it is an update of the original document. I used duplicate to transfer some of the payment conditions and customer details over to a new estimate. This is not possible anymore due to the removal of that feature.

I've been a user of QBO for a number of years and used to really like it, but kinda regret lately being tied into the QBO universe. Any viable alternatives?

How do I duplicate an estimate since the update? I don't see the option. How do EDIT the SHIP TO address since the update?

Hi there, Thomas.

Currently. the copy function within the estimate form is removed. However, you can still duplicate and edit it in the Sales tab, where the option is transfer. Here's how:

  1. Go to Sales.
  2. Choose Estimates.
  3. Click the dropdown icon below the Action column in the right side corner of the estimate you want to duplicate,
  4. Select Duplicate.
  5. Create changes to the duplicated estimate. Once done, tap Save and close.

For more info, check out this article: Duplicate an invoice or an estimate in QuickBooks Online.

In the meantime, I recommend submitting direct feedback to our Product Development Team about the duplicate option in the estimate form.

If you want to learn how to personalize and add specific info to your sales forms, you can read this article: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

I just noticed that the automatically inserted update message can be removed from the 'Notes to Customer' field in the copy of the document.

Hi Bryan, I cannot see a duplicate option, but can see a copy function, which I used. It is sort of a work around, but works. The duplicate option is in the invoice tab unser Sales but not in the Estimates tab.

Thanks, Thomas

I hear you! Often my clients want prices of the exact same project, only with different materials. I just spent well over an hour putting together an estimate and I have to redo it two more times to reflect the change in material cost. I just left a comment, and I really hope someone reads all of these comments. They really dropped the ball! They did us no favors! Thanks Quickbooks.

Every time you guys do an update it is just terrible. Seems like a bunch of young kids that know absolutely nothing about how accounting works. I always wonder what you guys will do next that requires many hours of my time to accommodate your crappy NEW programming. I'm sure not being able to perform copy with estimates is just the beginning of the problems created by poor planning in your most recent update...
