How do I export payroll payments and contractor payments to my QB desktop for Mac? I see no option to export contractor payments

so I am now forced to use the online version of QB intuit online payroll. The tab "pay employees" in my QB desktop for Mac has been disabled and it redirects me to online version. When I used to use the tab on the desktop I was able to export transaction no problem. When I used to use the old online version and I tried to export transactions it would generate a document download file that I could then transfer into QB. With this new version it doesn't generate any such document and I see no way at all to export contractor payments into my QB check register. Running QB for Mac desktop 2020 ver v19.0.8 R9. Forced to use online intuit QB payroll.

How do I export payroll payments and contractor payments to my QB desktop for Mac? I see no option to export contractor payments

Welcome to the Community, @jasonhowie81.

Let me share some insights with you about exporting contractor payments.

For contractor payments, it is not possible to export it individually. You can export them if the Export transactions are selected in the Payroll Settings window.

I'd like to add this article you can use to export Intuit Online Payroll transactions to QuickBooks for Windows or Mac: Export Intuit Online Payroll transactions to QuickBooks for Windows or Mac (IIF)

You can always get back to me if you have additional questions about exporting contractor payments.

How do I export payroll payments and contractor payments to my QB desktop for Mac? I see no option to export contractor payments

Thank you for the advice. I was able to get the employees paychecks exported to my desktop using the IIF file. I still need a way to export contractor payments like I was able to do in the past. I cannot afford the time to enter in dozens of individual payments manually. I tried using the method that you described and when I clicked Export a message popped up at the top of the screen that said the transactions had been exported successfully but they were not exported at all and no IIF file was created.

Thanks for updating us on how the exporting process goes, jasonhowie81. I'm here to ensure that you're able to export and locate your IIF file.

I'd recommend checking your download folder. This way, you'll be able to see if the IIF file is stored there. Once you've downloaded the file, go to your QuickBooks for Mac and upload the payroll data. Please follow these steps:

  1. From QuickBooks Mac, click File.
  2. Choose Import, then From IIF Files.
  3. Locate the IIF file and import it into QuickBooks Mac.
  4. The payroll information will then appear in QuickBooks Mac.

Additionally, I recommend visiting the following article to know more about the IIF import and export limitations: Export, import, and edit IIF files.

If you need further assistance with exporting files, feel free to click the Reply button below. I'm always here to help you.

Is there a report that shows what contractors have been exported?  I don't see any reports for contractors. Also I am  having the same problem. I can export payroll  but my contractors do not export. I also have to add an additional local tax and that does not export either. Please help.

Hey there, @kim6

Thanks for following along with the thread and sharing your concerns.

At this time, there's isn't a report available to show your exported contractors. To see a detailed overview for our available reports, check out Create reports in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac

When exporting, you'll want to follow the steps provided by my colleague above to export via IIF file. If you're having issues getting this data exported, I recommend contacting our Technical Support Team. This way, an agent can review your account in a secure environment and investigate this matter further.

Please let me know if you any questions or concerns. Take care and have a great weekend!

I'd like to help with your question about payment stubs for contractors, robinhood1995.

For now, printing pay stubs is only available for employees in QuickBooks Online. We don't have the same options for workers who are tagged as contractors. More details about this are discussed here: Printing Checks and Pay Stubs.

I'd suggest sending feedback or a feature request about this. All customer suggestions are collected and reviewed for future updates. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Feedback.
  2. Type in your suggestions about getting an option to print paystubs for contractors.
  3. Click Next to submit them.

You can track feature requests through the QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website.

In the meantime, you'll want to run the Transaction List by Vendor report. This helps you see and print the vendor payments in QuickBooks. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu and look for Transaction List by Vendor.
  2. Click the Customize button.
  3. Proceed to the Filter section and then click the Transaction Type drop-down arrow.
  4. Select Payment.
  5. Put a checkmark in the Vendor box and click the drop-down arrow to select the name of the contractor.
  6. Click Run report.

How do I export payroll payments and contractor payments to my QB desktop for Mac? I see no option to export contractor payments

Hi,

When I import IIF files into QB desktop, they are always imported into wrong account. How I can fix the issue?  After importing, every time I have to go Chart of Accounts and change every single files' account manually.
