The new update is garbage, I didn't ask for it but I will start asking for a QB replacement.
Frankly, that is seriously upsetting and outrageous.
Really upsetting.
Awful.
Best wishes for success.
Not giving us the option of utilizing a format that is more convenient to us and familiar to our clients is ridiculous. Many of the changes you've implemented and or added don't function for my business. I'm selling the same product I've sold for 14 years. Only thing about it that has changed is the price. I don't use auto pay or QB payment options. I don't utilize the mobile app. The new style is amateurish looking and has very poor flow. The layout is confusing and doesn't utilize space well. Most of my invoices now take up 2 pages vs one page with the old layout. Intuit wasted a ton of funding and time making these changes. We want the old layout back. NOW!
Customers have not transitioned to the new invoicing experience. What the hell does that even mean? "Invoicing experience" What new age speak is that? QB is an online accounting software for businesses. It's not an experience. We want to simply use not only what's familiar to us and our clients, we want our simple looking, uncomplicated invoice layout back. The new invoice is amateurish looking, has loads of wasted space and as a result, most of my 1 page invoices on the layout are now 2 page invoices. No client wants to get a 2 page invoice. Many of us don't use the mobile app. We don't use QB payments. We don't need to update the invoice layout when creating one. The only thing that has changed about my product in the last 14 years is the price. And that only happens occasionally. I want open QB, complete an invoice and a PO and close it up in 10 minutes. Not possible with the new layout. You can rationalize how great your new layout to yourselves all you want, but that won't change the fact that it's bad.
I agree with other comments. The new layout doesn't fold in a way that shows the bill to and ship to addresses in the packing slip window. AND I CAN'T CHANGE IT BACK TO THE WAY IT WAS. This is another gross misstep by QuickBooks Online. Give us options to customize our invoices and packing slips to suit our business needs. I wish I had never switched to QB online.
I'll show you how to add the Bill to and Ship to addresses so you can print with your packing slips, Suzannehy.
I can see how the new layout doesn't fold in a way that shows the Bill to and Ship to addresses in the packing slip window. However, with the latest update, the fields are now available and you can already add the addresses on the fields. I've added a screenshot for your visual guide:
Once done, the information will now show up when printing.
You'll want to print them and manually add them to the packing slip or envelope.
Additionally, QuickBooks provides tools to create invoices, estimates, and sales receipts the way you want them to be. To give more details, review this article for reference: Customize Invoices, Estimates, and Sales Receipts in QuickBooks Online.
Let me know if you have other concerns when creating packing slips or if there's anything else that you need help with when customizing forms. I'm always one post away if you need further assistance.
Very well put and exactly right! I wish all software designers would listen to what their customers actually want, rather than giving us "fancy" stuff they think looks cool but doesn't function in a way that works for anyone or simply moves everything around without adding any functionality - just more frustration for users. It's irritating and does not make for happy customers. The designers need to remember they work for us!
Your AI response is garbage. It doesn't allow me to customize the invoice to make the addresses line up with our packing slips in the same way the old invoicing layout did. How many businesses are dealing with the angst of this ill-advised change in QB invoicing? You're not hearing us in asking for invoicing layout options. The new invoicing doesn't reflect my brand. I can't adjust the logo size. I can't adjust the fonts. The addresses don't line up with our window envelopes or packing slips like they did in the old invoicing layout. PLEASE give us multiple template options for forms so we can choose a layout that at least complements our company branding. QB has only given us one Modern style.
It looks like we were switched to the new invoice layout this week. So far, I much prefer the old layout. The new layout is not updating our recurring invoices that have been in use for years. And there have been a few instances where the invoices refuse to save because of either the sales tax not "calculating" or "another user is working on the same invoice". Most of our customers aren't even charged with a sales tax and is reflected in the product/service used for their invoices so there should be no need for a sales tax calculation. Furthermore, I am currently the only person in our company that works on invoices (from putting in the totals and adjusting discount percentages to emailing them to customers) so there should be no reason for me to be receiving an "another user is working on the same invoice" message. As it currently stands, I cannot return to the old format. All in all, this is already turning into a frustrating experience.
There are times when QuickBooks online is poorly configured, @KarlW_30. It could be that your browser is full of cache and cookies.
In the meantime, I suggest using a private window that doesn't store files. Browsers use cache and cookies to load web pages faster.
To open an incognito window, you can refer to these keyboard shortcuts:
If you still have the same result, I suggest utilizing another supported browser. It can help us identify if the issue is specific to your current browser.
When you can edit your invoices after using incognito, consider returning to your regular browser and clearing its cache and cookies.
If this issue persists, I suggest contacting our support, as they have the appropriate tools to pull up your account and further help fix your invoice and automatic tax calculations.
Follow these steps:
