How do I recover missing time entries?

After reviewing my QBO account last night and this morning, I realized that at least a half-dozen time activity entries are missing or were not saved. I have tried to re-enter them at least twice and they still do not save.

How do I recover missing time entries?

Let me help you, Jamie53.

We're unable to recover missing or deleted missing time entries. We'll have to check if these transactions are not deleted by a user. Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon.
  2. Select Audit log.

From there, you can see who made changes to your account and what they did.

If no user deleted them, you may be experiencing some browser hiccups. We'll perform the basic troubleshooting to fix it. Let's start with logging into your account through a private browser. It's the best place to isolate web issues. These are the shortcut keys:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

If you can save the transactions successfully using the private browsing session, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache to refresh the program. We advise our users to delete them periodically to prevent and fix issues like this.

Also, you can use a different browser to narrow down the issue.

Feel free to get back to this thread if you need more help. We're just one comment away. Take care!

How do I recover missing time entries?

Thank you, Kristine. I **think** I solved this....

Here's what I did:

  1. checked the audit history - lo and behold, the missing entries are there.
  2. logged out of Safari.
  3. Opened Incognito window, logged in. Still no time entries.
  4. Switched to Chrome and logged in. Still no time entries.
  5. Logged out. Opened Chrome Icognito window. Still no time entries.
  6. Tried creating a new invoice for a client for whom time entries are missing. They do not popularte on the right side of the invoice screen.
  7. Then it occurred to me, did I change a setting? So I went to my settings and the "Invoice Single Time Activity to Client" was toggled off. So I toggled it back on.
  8. Created a test Single Time Activity, and it saved. Yes!
  9.

HOWEVER, how do I now get the "missing" time activities back, do I need to recreate them?

How do I recover missing time entries?

It's good to know that you're now able to save your tie entries, @jamie53,

Regarding the process of retrieving the missing time data, QuickBooks will not do it automatically. This is because the program doesn't have a backup file for information that weren't saved previously.

You will need to re-enter it manually or upload it if you are using a different time tracking website. Here's how to do that in QBO:

  1. Tap + New.
  2. Go to Employees section, then select Weekly Timesheet.
  3. From the small arrow ▼ icons, select the name of the employee or supplier and the week you want to record.
  4. Fill out and complete the rest of the fields.
  5. Press Save when done.

I'm adding this link about entering timesheets and other tutorial for QBO:

If you have other questions or concerns about time tracking and other tasks in QBO, let me know in the comment below. I'll be more than happy to help. Have a nice day!
