I need to do this but don't want email invoice as plain text, I want to add a payment link instead, please advise.
Thanks
Thank you for posting to the Community, accounts-2upc.
I can share a way how you can add a payment link to your email when invoicing in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
If you have QuickBooks Payments, we can connect this to your company file. This way, you can send a payment link in an invoice. You’ll want to check out this article to sign up or connect an existing QuickBooks Payments account.
Once done, you can then set up your account so your customers can pay their invoices online:
Additionally, here’s an article you can check out for more details about accepting electronic customer payments for online invoices: Take and process payments in QuickBooks Online with QuickBooks Payments.
Moreover, you may also want to check out this article for more information about when QuickBooks Payments deposits customer payments into your bank account.

Hi,
Thanks but my request was to remove the pay button on my email invoices without setting invoice to plain text.
Thanks
Hello accounts-2upc-co,
Nice to see you in the Community! Okay, let's go ahead and perform these steps because I believe this is more of what you need to remove the pay button on the email invoices.
To change the payment options on an existing invoice:
To change the invoice payment options with new invoicing:
In your case, you can then deselect some or all the payment options you do not need. For more information about processing payments in QuickBooks Online with QuickBooks Payments, this article is very instrumental! Let me know if you have any other questions! I will be more than happy to assist! Take care for now.
Hi,
I already have no payment options setup, but still invoices received by email show review and pay button, and when click it diverts to a page saying to contact the company on ways to pay.
I don't want a review and pay option unless I can link that to my Square URL.
Also editing invoices, there is no tick box for payment options as I have not and don't need any, I would if QBO supported Square payments.
Please see attached.
thanks
Hi there, @accounts-2upc. Let's work this out so you get rid of the Review and Pay button when emailing an invoice in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Before anything else, I'd like to thank you for taking the time to perform the recommendation provided by my colleagues above. Since you've mentioned that you don't have any payment options set up, know that you only have three options to get rid of the said button.
You can select HTML, Plain text, or Online invoice in the Online delivery section. However, for HTML and Plain text options, when you email an invoice, you'll directly see the details your invoice contains. Now, if you choose Online invoice, you'll have the Print and Save button. After you've set it up, please be aware that it'll take effect the next time you email an invoice. That said, it won't affect invoices you've already sent to your customers in QBO.
If you don't want the options I've mentioned, I recommend sending a feature request to our Product Development Team. This way, they'll see your feedback and consider adding it to the next product update. I'll gladly input the steps below. To begin, here's how:
In addition, here's an article to help you manage invoice payments in QBO: Record invoice payments in QuickBooks Online.
You can also check this page in case you'd like to modify the look of your reports and add details to it: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.

I did exactly what it indicates above. It is NOT checked yet when my customers receive an invoice, the options still shows up and they can click and enter a credit card. How do I eliminate this option completely???
Hello, ditch557.
I can help you eliminate the pay option on the email invoices. To remove the pay option on your email invoices, you'll need to access your account settings and disable the payment feature. Once you've done that, your customers will no longer be able to pay through the email invoice and will need to use an alternative payment method.
Here's how:
Also, let's check your customer profile to see if he set up a Credit card as an option for the preferred payment. This may be why your customer sees a pay option on the email invoices.
You might also want to check out this article to know more about processing credit card payments: Receive and process payments in QuickBooks Online.
Please let me know if you have other concerns. We're all right to help as soon as we can. Take care and have a good one!
Did you ever resolve this issue? We are experiencing the same thing.
Hi there, lpatter13.
I acknowledge the importance of removing the Pay option when emailing an invoice. I'll be sure to provide an alternative method for eliminating this.
You can utilize the HTML on the Online Delivery section from the Sales page and make sure the online payments for ACH and Credit Card are deactivated. In this process, the Pay option will no longer be visible to your customer in an emailed invoice.
I attached a screenshots for your visual reference.
Also, I'm adding an article that provides instructions on generating customer statements to show summaries of their invoices, payments, credits, and remaining balances: Create and send customer statements in QuickBooks Online.
Keep me posted if you need further assistance managing your invoices in QuickBooks. I'll be here to provide you with the support that you need. Keep safe.
Hi,
Still can't remove button.
My workaround was just to put a message on invoice stating how to pay. Button still there and very annoying. If it's pressed it goes to a QBO page saying to contact us for how to pay.
In the UK we don't have the HTML option as detailed in this post.
Thanks.
This doesn't work. You're turning our invoices into a confusing marketing machine for your services.
