How do I rescind a request for a W9 from a contractor??

Hello @alexanderthegreat.

Currently, there is no option to resend the request for W9.

As a workaround, you can ask your contractor to check for the email to enter their W9 information.

If they can no longer locate the email, you'll have to manually enter the contractor's information to QuickBooks.

Also, I recommend sending feedback to our engineers. This way, they can consider your idea for the benefit of the Quickbooks users, and for future product updates.

Feel free to comment below or post again if you have other questions.

Thank you for getting back to me, @alexanderthegreat.

You can manually enter your contractor's information in the Details section of the contractor's profile which is what you've exactly and already done.

See the attached screenshot for your visual reference.

If you have any other questions, leave a comment below or post again. I'm always happy to help.

How do I rescind a request for a W9 from a contractor??

Hi @alexanderthegreat,

Regarding the "waiting for info" message on the W9 section, your contractors need to upload their forms to the IRS. If they did already and still the message shows up, I suggest you give us a call so our phone support team can investigate this further.

Here's how to contact support:

  1. Go to: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact.
  2. Select QuickBooks Online.
  3. Select a topic.
  4. Scroll down at the bottom part and click the Get Phone Number button.

This should help us keep going. If you have other concern, please let us know. We are always here to help!

How do I rescind a request for a W9 from a contractor??

Having the option to send another request should be an option on Quickbooks. Emails get lost all the time. Sending another request is a must. Also being able to send it a new email if the contractor changes the email needs to be an option as well. Emails change all the time. It happens and we should be able to send this request without having to go through the hassle.

I had to create new contractor to resend this request and under Expenses change Payee to the New Contractor I created to resend the request.

That's a lot I know but only way I know.

I agree it's a MUST to be able to resend a W9 form some people don't feel comfortable sharing this info over the phone or internet so being able to resend is Super important!!! Please fix this!!!

How do I rescind a request for a W9 from a contractor??

I also have this situation...  I was just told by a client that QB is "spamming" a contractor for their W-9 but we already have that information entered.

We should be able to cancel the request for W-9 as well as re-send...  rescind and/or resend ;)

I want to make sure this issue is taken care of, @PlumBookkeeperCO.

At this time, we're unable to cancel the invitation request for W-9 as well as resend it. As mentioned by my colleagues above, you'll have to contact our QuickBooks Support Team for additional assistance. To reach them, you can follow the steps below:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account.
  2. Click the Help button.
  3. In the QuickBooks Assistance chatbox, select Talk to a human and choose I still need a human.
  4. Select Contact Us.

In addition, you can submit feedback directly to our product engineers. This way, they can further check on these options and add them to future updates.

You might also want to read this article: Set up contractors and track them for 1099s in QuickBooks. This will help you track all their related payments for their 1099s.

Please know that I'm just a reply away if you need any further assistance managing contractors. Wishing you continued success, @PlumBookkeeperCO.
