Hi there, tnfarm1.
I'll share some insights about how the Split feature works in QuickBooks Online.
The Split option is unavailable when recording a transfer. You can select the Add option instead of choosing record as transfer. This way, we'll be able to split the transaction. I'll guide you how:
We can also divide the amount in two then record it as transfer one at a time instead entering it as a whole via single entry. This, way we'll be able to record the transaction with out directly splitting the amount in the banking page.
If you wish to record the transfer in a single entry, you'll need to do it using journal entry. Then, you can split it from afterward. I'd also recommend reaching out to your accountant about this since they know what's the best way of handling these transactions.

Hi. Thank you for the helpful information. (I am using QB online). How do I "split" transfers that I have already reconciled--since I cannot toggle them back to being "add"? I'd like to help you, Raffy_Welding.
First, you'll have to unreconcile the transaction. This way, you can undo it, and put it back for review.
Then, once it's back in the For Review section, just follow the steps KlentB provided on how to split and add the transaction.
Lastly, reconcile the transaction manually. Here's how:
I'll add the reference on how to reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online for more information.
