How to get form W9 of Intuit?

Hello there, rshende.

We're unable to provide a W-9 form. You'll want to manually download and fill out the Form W-9. Then, print it out to mail it to the tax agency.

You can get more information about this form in the following links below:

How to get form W9 of Intuit?

Catherine, I think you are missing his question, some of us need YOUR company W9 for out accounting department since we pay Intuit fees.  We cannot print one out and fill it out for you.  How do we get that W9 from Intuit for our vendor file?  Who do we call or email to obtain it?

How to get form W9 of Intuit?

Thanks for clarifying, @566565.

Payments made to Intuit from our customers will not need a 1099 nor a W-9 because:

  • Intuit is a corporation.
  • Payments made to us are not part of the exclusion list.

If you've any additional questions on this, please let me know! I'm here to help.

How to get form W9 of Intuit?

As you might have noticed, it doesn't look like Intuit's W9 can be retrieved in one of these forums. But I did look up their most recently filed 10-Q, which at least has the EIN on it here: https://s23.q4cdn.com/[removed]/files/doc_financials/2021/q1/10-Q.pdf  and then I googled that EIN and was able to pull up this 2016 W9 from Intuit's own website it looks like: http://http-download.intuit.com/http.intuit/CMO/accountants/support/w-9/Intuit-Inc-2016-W-9.pdf

Hope these help you out in some way! Not sure which address is correct though.

I think you don't understand what all of this people, and I, are talking about.  In our countries we are asked to get an certificate of residence or a W9 from our foreign providers.  I know it is used for other means in your country,  But, this is a requirement for our tax authorities so we can deduct the payments as an expense.  If we don't get it we cannot buy from that provider.

All of our foreign providers give us this document without problem.  A few of them, like you, don't understand what are we talking about.  Those use to be the ones that are very small companies, or don't have a formal accounting area.   You are supposed to be a very formal company, so you should not be in that group.  So I ask you to give us the link to download it with dat of this year.  Please, don't send the link to fill it.  It would be better if you go with an accountant in your company that knows about that topic.   If he/she doesn't know, then it means it is not the appropiate person to look for.

Regards

Sergio, from Mexico.

Intuit / Quickbooks - you are in violation of US LAW by not providing a W9 to your customers.  You are REQUIRED to provide YOUR W9 to all people who pay you.  Just because you are a corporation does NOT exempt you from this requirement.  You need to change this policy ASAP and provide your W9 to not only people who are asking you for it, but all your customers.

Thank you Rainflurry.  I also googled the webs and found their old W9.  I am just trying to explain to them that for each customer they refuse to give their W9 to, they will be fined $50 by the IRS.  That, and all their customers who've they've refused to give their W9 to are required to remit their payments to them less the 24% backup withholding - which Intuit won't allow because they require payment via credit card in full.  So they are in violation of US law in 2 different ways.  I've submitted a Form 3949A to the IRS to turn them in.  The fact that their legal department is advising their customer service agents to refuse to give out their W9 "because they are a corporation" is so very WRONG.  I hope the IRS fine for them turns into $1million or more.  Idiots need to be fined!

Would you please share Intuit's W-9 you found.  I downloaded the 2016 provided earlier, but would like the updated version.  It is very frustrating that they are not providing it to their users.

in response, regardless if Intuit is a corporation, the auditors drill it into our heads to always request a W9 to truly make sure that what you are saying is correct and this helps in preventing assumptions

Our auditors have stressed over and over that we need a w9 from everyone, regardless if they are C, S corporations or single entities. we must have it in the books. Once again, who should we contact to obtain it?

Thanks for dropping by, @labadillo.

The Intuit W-9 form isn't a form we provide. As mentioned by my colleague Jessica_young above, payments made to Intuit from our customers don’t require a W-9 or 1099 because:

Thus, there isn't a way to get a W-9 form from Intuit.

You may want to invite your contractors to add their own 1099 tax info in QuickBooks Online. This article will guide you through the process: Invite a contractor to add their own tax info.

Come back to this post if you have follow-up questions about the W-9 form. The Community team and I are always here to help.

@Mark   The point here, is that Intuit is in violation of US Law by refusing to provide your W9 to customers.  The point is NOT that Intuit is not subject to 1099s.  The point is that you need to supply your W9 to customers to prove that.  By refusing to provide your W9, all your customers are required to submit backup withholding to the IRS and report you as a violator to the IRS.  We have already done so.  We hope you get fined, and audited, by the IRS, for your adamant refusal to abide by US Law.  Every single member of Intuit should go to jail for this.

Get your legal team involved here.  If anyone competent from your legal team looks at US Law, they'll quickly see that Intuit is in violation of US Law, and you will eat your words.

How to get form W9 of Intuit?

The entire purpose of a W-9 is to CONFIRM that the vendor is a corporation.  We are not supposed to just take a vendor's word for it.   Intuit is WRONG by not providing this document when requested.  Ridiculous!

How to get form W9 of Intuit?

Hi there,

I can see the challenges that you've been through of being unable to get W-9 form in the program. Please know that QuickBooks relies to general instructions from the IRS. According to their regulation, payments to corporations are not reportable.

I want you to know that we value your opinion. If you wish to access I’d recommend sending feedback request to our product development team. They look through them to determine what we need to implement moving forward to provide the best QuickBooks experience.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Under the Profile column, click on Feedback.
  3. Share your feedback. Then, click Next.

You'll want to track your suggestion through this website. You can also visit our blog to keep up with all of our recent events and developments.

To learn more about this form, you can read through these resources from the IRS:

You also have the option to invite your contractors to add their own tax info in the program: Invite a contractor to add their own tax info.

Get back to me here if you have any other concerns about payroll forms or any other QuickBooks tasks. I'm always here to help. Take care always.

How to get form W9 of Intuit?

@JamaicaA   We submitted a feedback request months ago per the same instructions you just provided, and nothing ever happened.  Therefore your suggestion is bunk.  But more importantly:

What you, and Intuit, are misunderstanding, is when you say the words "Please know that QuickBooks relies to general instructions from the IRS. According to their regulation, payments to corporations are not reportable."  does NOT exempt Intuit from the obligation to PROVE YOU ARE A CORPORATION by providing your W9 to your customers.  Just because corporations are not reportable does not exempt you from having to prove you are a corporation.  You prove you are a corporation via your W9.  You must submit your W9 to all your customers, or you are in violation of US Law.

How many times do we have to tell you this before you get it?

How to get form W9 of Intuit?

How hard is it for Quickbooks to provide W9's?!!?  I just don't understand why they refuse to do this.  It takes more time to deal with customers calling in to get than if they just provided them.  I spent 45 minutes on a chat help, got no where.  That's 45 minutes of my time and theirs!  They then instructed me to get a call back, so I did and spent another 15+ minutes on the phone while they researched it on their end, just to tell me no.  That's over 1 hour of my time and 1 hour of their time.  It would have taken maybe 1 minute to email me the W9 form.  Wow -- can anyone tell me what their reasoning is -- what would it hurt to provide?  This is just crazy!

Please know that I understand how important and valuable time is to each of us, Asildria.

In QuickBooks, we strive to ensure every customer is satisfied with our service.

Here are the possible reasons why the W-9 form isn't available in QuickBooks Online.

Payments our customers make to us for our services don't require a W-9 or 1099 because:

That being said, the contractor can download and complete the Form W-9 (PDF). Then, manually print them out. For more information, see Forms and Associated Taxes for Independent Contractors on the IRS website for further guidance.

On the other hand, you can send feedback about the feature you wish to have with QuickBooks Online (QBO).

This way, our Product Developer team can have a look and review it. They are always open to opinions, which helps improve our product to suit your business needs. To send feedback, you can follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Enter your comments or product suggestions.
  4. Then select Next to submit feedback.

See this link for more details: How do I submit feedback?

Moreover, you can also utilize this link for more insights on how W-9 forms are collected in QBO: You can do WHAT in QuickBooks? Collect contractor W-9s

How to get form W9 of Intuit?

Read to the end.....  Many years ago, Turbo Tax (owned by Intuit) had an error in their business tax software and were counting depreciation twice: once in COGS and again as regular depreciation.  I called customer service and they refused to help me as they were convinced it was user error and not their software.  I was on the phone with them forever pleading for help to no avail.  I researched the problem on the similar Turbo Tax platform to find I was not the only customer having this problem and again, Intuit/Turbo Tax refused to help their customers as they insisted it was user error.

Getting frustrated with customer service, I ended up posting my problem and lack of support on the Turbo Tax FACEBOOK site.  Turbo Tax/Intuit immediately put me in touch with a higher up who actually took me seriously.  She logged into the software remotely on my computer and verified it was a INTUIT problem, not a user problem.

Point to this story, Intuit customer service will keep you in circles and not escalate our problem to someone who will actually listen.  In my case, posting on their FB wall got the attention of someone who would actually listen.  Might not hurt in this case too.

They are wrong in not providing their customers the W-9.  We need to be in touch with their accounting department and not customer service.

Intuit seems to be very confused.  The W-9 form is how Intuit provides information as a vendor to those who pay Intuit.  We are required by the IRS to have this form on file in our records.  I need this form ASAP - please direct me to the individual who can provide it.

How to get form W9 of Intuit?

Hello, Advanced.

I can help you understand the W9 Form and how to obtain it in QuickBooks. If you want to view filled-out W9s from your contractors, you can find these forms in their profiles within your QuickBooks Online account. To do this:

  1. Go to Payroll and select Contractors.
  2. Choose the contractor's name.
  3. Click on the Details tab to see the contractor's info and the Documents tab to see a copy of the W-9.

However, if you haven't invited your contractor yet to fill out their W9 information, you can send them a request to complete the data and submit the form. Once done, the contractor received an invitation from the employer. Once the invitation is accepted, you can view a copy of the W9 form in your contractor profile. To send an invitation to your contractor, refer to the steps below.

  1. Go to the Payroll tab, then select Contractors.
  2. Click Add a Contractor.
  3. Enter the contractor's name and email.
  4. Check the box to invite them to enter their information.
  5. Click Add Contractor.

Furthermore, I'm sharing this reference to help you manage contractor's W9 forms: Instructions for the Requester of Form W-9

You're always welcome to leave a reply below if there's anything else you need further assistance with managing tax forms in your QuickBooks account. Let me know in this thread so I can back you up. Keep safe, and have a great day ahead!
