How to show payment date / status to each customer invoice?

I understand that you need to add the payment date on that report. Though we're unable to add the payment date, we can pull up a different report.

We have a Customer Balance Detail report that we can pull up. This will show all the invoices with their payments next to them. Simply go to the Reports menu, hover over Customers & Receivables, and select Customer Balance Detail.

Thank you for the response.  Unfortunately the steps you advised me does not work as the  payment shows different line not each lines to the invoice.

if customer paid multiple invoices at the same time, it shows only total payment amount.  i clicked the payment that take me to the detail but i cant view this detail on the report.

Currently, the Paid Date column on the reports cannot be used to pull up invoice payment dates. What we suggest is to open the invoice to see when they were paid.

On the other hand, the report that Alex suggested can be used if you need a statement-kind report for each customer.

This is absolutely unacceptable.  QuickBooks has not been able to add paid date to most reports for OVER A DECADE, I know this because I asked for this capability repeatedly for over 10 years.  My solution was to hack into the database (a complete pain) and join the tables I need.  Honestly, somebody there on the development team has to be capable of a simple join to allow us to get these reports, which are critical for commission reporting (very common).

Quickbooks can show the invoice date paid on the invoice window, so the data is available. There is no reason why the same date can not be displayed on a report.

In my business, it is frequently first pay, first serve. Dancing through 10, 20, or 50 invoices to see who paid when is stupid. If I wanted a paper based accounting system, I would not be using Quickbooks.

Hi, there are many and multiple threads with this same need.   Why hasn't Intuit addressed this problem?   I, too, need a report that provides all invoices, including invoice no, amounts, invoice date, payments applied, paid date(s), and remaining balance due (incidentally for commissioning as some other users describe).   Currently, it's a terribly complex manual exercise to derive this information that should be readily available.   Please, please, please fix this issue that seems so obvious and that many users are raising.  This is the most basic, basic functionality that any bookkeeper needs. It would save lots of time manually munging data, and maintaining this very basic and necessary report as a completely separate excel file that we manage outside of QBO.   It is amazing Intuit keeps ignoring and pushing this basic issue down the road.

I know it's essential to have a report that includes all the information you need. For now, you'll want to use the Customer Balance Detail provided by my colleague AlexV and customize the report. 

You can also memorize the report if you want the same settings to be available for future use. This way, you do not have to go through the customization process again. Note: When you memorize a report, QuickBooks saves only the report settings (customization). Depending on the date filter, the data will be different or updated.

If I recall correctly my desktop version had that on my invoices I do construction and showing partial payments is a must a 250,000 dollar project with progressive payments needs to show up on my invoices for all to see. It has to be all there in one view I don't want to do this report thing nore do I want to learn that I just want to update the same invoice and send it to customer. Im not a bookkeeper Im a contractor. KISS keep it simple stupid.

Honestly, I completely agree. This can't be too difficult to add a payment date to the report view. I spend WAY too much time going back and forth between views and individual invoices trying to figure out when payments have been collected. Please provide a solution to this.

I agree.  Invoice pay date is an import field in many way.  

Well, you can add another year to that decade. It's still useless. 

What customizations are you suggesting would address this? There aren't any.

I understand how important to have that information on the report. However, the option to customize it is unavailable.

You'll want to pull up the Customer Balance Detail report instead to get the information you need. Just go to the Reports menu, choose Customers & Receivables, then select Customer Balance Detail. 

Also, I suggest sending your suggestions straight to our developers. Your ideas help identify the features our customers want the most for consideration in future enhancements. Go to Help menu > Send feedback and request for this functionality to be added.

Folks, Intuit continues to largely ignore this request for this report, even though there are many many threads going back a number of years for this specific report.  This report includes information all available within QBO's data.   And lots of frustration at its absence (including my frustration).  Clearly, it is needed, but there doesn't seem to be a viable response from Intuit to add to their development priorities. 

With all due respect RenjolynC, you and AlexV do not understand the requirement and purpose of the requested fix.  What is being proposed with the "Customer Balance Detail" report isn't relevant nor comes anywhere close to meeting the requirement.   Please do more research on the need and avoid trying to propose a solution.   A solution does not exist short of fixing the issue.  Don't take my firmness incorrectly, and I appreciate you're good intention of trying to offer some solution, but you are way way way off the mark.  This is Intuit's issue, not yours.   I am being firm because there are hundreds of these requests over many years accompanied by milk toast Intuit responses and with apparently no real interest on Intuit's part to fix a very specific and apparently simple issue (as reference MHS365's response in this thread hacking a table join).  The data exists, Intuit just will not make a simple report that presents it in a useful way.

What myself, and everyone else here, are saying to you, is that this report does NOT have the information we need. 

would you mind sharing what tables you had to join and what fields you had to query?

I can probably figure it out myself, but if you've already done it, it would save me some time trying to some up with a cash basis revenue report with some special queries added in.

What if there is more than one payment amount / paid date? Would you want to see the same invoice listed multiple times, once for each payment applied to it?
