Currently, including a link to pay and the invoice with the routines created email is unavailable. The routine function works as an email reminder for customers.
As a workaround, you can follow these steps to include the link to pay:
1. Go to the Gear icon, and then select Custom Form Styles.
2. Click on New Styles, then choose Invoice.
3. Next, select the Content button, and click the third row of the invoice copy.
4. Add the payment link in Add footer text and hit Done.

Thank you for getting back to me. I am confused on step #4. Maybe this is simple, but how do I add the payment link into the footer text? Thanks.
Hello there, @accounting199,
You can add any link to the Add footer text as seen on step #4 above. See the screenshot below for your reference. However, the link isn't clickable when your customer receives the email invoice. Please have him copy and paste the link to another browser so he can pay you.
If you want to have an automatic payment link to your customer invoice, I'd suggest signing up for a QuickBooks Payments account. Then, connect it to your QBO account. From there, you'll have the option to choose Online Payment when you create and email an invoice. For more information, go through this article: How To Let Customers Pay Their Invoices Online.
Using smarter invoicing features in the program helps you get paid faster. Your money goes directly to your bank once your customers pay you. Then, the system auto matches your bank transactions to help you save time. To learn more about this feature, visit this article: Get Paid Faster With QuickBooks Invoicing.

Thank you for this information. I had one more question regarding routines and using it for select customers. Is there a limit to the number of customers you can select or include in your routine?
Hello there, @accounting199,
When you use the Routines feature in the program, there is no limit to the numbers you can select. Just make sure the Only apply this routine to specific customers box isn't checked. See the screenshot below for your reference.
If you'd want to keep your routines, you'll need to change your plan to the Advanced version before December 16. This way, you can continue automating tasks which helps you move your growing business forward with deeper insights, better support, and easy collaboration. For more information, visit this website: QBO Advanced.

What if I I need to check that box, because we do not want to include every client? Is there a limit to the number of clients if I do check the box?
I'll share with you the answers to your follow-up questions, @accounting199.
Checking the Only apply this routine to specific customers box lets you select your preferred clients. Also, there's no limit to the number of customers you can choose to. The screenshot below serves as your visual reference.
You can always go to the Manage Routines page to modify your existing routines. Just choose either Disable, Edit, or Delete from the Actions column as seen in the screenshot below.
You can count me in if there's anything else you need. Take care always, @accounting199.
I am still having trouble with this. It won't save my routine and lock in the customers. When I select "only apply this to specific customers", and add in approximately 250 customers...I push the save and enable button, but it will not tell me at the top of the screen that it has saved (like it does when I do not specify customers). And tomorrow when I go and check on it, all of the customers will be deleted from the routine. Why is this? It has happened 3 times now. I am clearly hitting save and enable, but it will not work for the number of customers I am adding in.
Hi there, @accounting199.
Since the save and enable button is not functioning upon saving the routine. I suggest using a private browser. Here's how:
Once able to open a private window, kindly access your QBO and try to do the same process. It is also a good idea to clear the cache of the browser you're using.
If it won't save again, contact our Customer Care Team. They have this screen sharing tool that will help you get back to the business.
If you have other concerns, please don't hesitate to leave a response. I'm just a click away. Have a great day!
