I'm here to ensure that you can request a deposit through an estimate.
If you have QuickBooks Payments and the new version of estimates, you can request a deposit that customers can pay directly from an estimate.
In the event that your QuickBooks Payment is turned on and you have the new version of the estimate and isn't working, I recommend creating the estimate on a private window. There are times that browser-related issues can cause unexpected concerns on the opened pages. I've added these keyboard shortcuts to open one:
If it works, you can go back to a regular browser and clear its cache. A piled cache can also be the reason for some issues like this one.
To see further details about the process, you can refer to this article: Request and accept deposits on estimates in QuickBooks Online
In case you'd like to personalize the info in your estimates, you can always customize it in QuickBooks Online. To do the trick, check out this handy article: How to customize estimates in QBO?

Thank you for the quick response, AbegailS. I tried clearing cache in a new window without luck. When I click "New" > "Estimate" the form doesn't show "new" at the top left, which the instructions show would indicate I have the new version of estimates. Is this feature specific to the new version? If so, how do I get on the new version? My bank accounts are linked and I've received payments via estimates and separate links in the past. I'm very confused why the feature has suddenly disappeared. Thanks again for your help.
Good afternoon, @lbitents-gmail-c.
Thanks for taking the time to follow up with us. I hope your day is going great so far.
At this time, there's no way to switch to the new version of the estimate that's been rolled out. However, if you'd like to try it out, you can use the link I've included below to access it. Please note that you can only use the new estimate template from this link and it will not make a change to your QuickBooks Online account.
Here' the link:
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I'm always around to lend a hand. Take care!
did you ever get the problem fixed? I'm missing the same "request a deposit" for my estimates. I can log into my old business from last year and it has the "request a deposit" link on the estimates, but my new business profile does not.
This feature may be more broadly available soon, HicksHeavyEquip.
Currently, the option to request a deposit on an estimate is limited in availability. Please know that our goal is to provide the best experience possible for our QuickBooks Online (QBO) users. We appreciate your interest in having this feature. While we don't have an ETA for this, you can send this product suggestion or feedback to our Product Development Team. Here's how:

This absolutely pathetic that the top small business online accounting software in the world eliminated the use of requesting deposits through estimates. Many contractors and other small businesses complete all or nearly all of their transactions with a required up-front deposit that is disclosed and requested IN THE WORK ESTIMATE. One more reason why so many small business owners are moving to Zoho Books, Xero, FreshBooks, and Wave.
