Batch reclassify is an option only in the accountants version. You can have one of your invited accountants do this

Is it possible to batch edit the product/service for a group of invoices?

I have sent a lot of invoices with wrong services.  I'd like to use an excel spreadsheet which has the invoice # and the correct service and use this to batch correct the invoices (most are already paid)  Is there a way I can do this?  The descriptions, units and $$ are all correct on the invoices, just the services are incorrect.

It looks like the responses below are a bit conflicting.

Thanks for joining the thread, @5530 4942 0,

What version of QuickBooks Online do you have? At the moment, the option to edit invoices by batch is available in QuickBooks Online Advanced. If you have the same version, follow the steps below:

  1. Click on the + New button and select Batch transactions.
  2. Select Invoices for the Transaction Type, and choose Modify in the Action drop-down.
  3. Mark the invoices you want to edit then press the Edit pop-up.
  4. On the next page, go to the Product/Service column and change it with the correct service item. Please note that Bundles are currently not supported for Batch Actions, which is why it's greyed out.
  5. Once done, hit Save or Save and print.

You will see these steps in this Community guide: Edit multiple invoices at the same time in QuickBooks Online Advanced

However, if you're using the regular QuickBooks version, you will need to manually update the transactions one at a time. Find the transaction in the Sales menu or in the customer's profile.

If you are not using QBO Advanced, utilize a 3rd party tool. You may export the Invoice data to XLS/CSV, modify them, and reimport them back into your QBO. Make sure to overwrite the data to avoid duplication.

Changing the product/services also deletes the description and prices. At least that's what happens on my end. Is there a way to batch edit the products/services without affecting the other invoice details?

Is it possible to batch edit the product/service for a group of invoices?

Hello there, @xChaii3n.

Let me share with you some information about batch editing an invoice in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

When you utilize the Batch Transactions edit feature in QuickBooks Advanced to modify an invoice, changing the Product/Service section can affect other details within the invoice.

Regardless of whether you input specific details during the setup or entered them manually when creating an invoice, changes to the Product/Service section will still impact the invoice.

With that, you'll want to manually edit the other invoice details to restore their original state after changing the Product/Service. You can refer to the Audit log to check the history of these changes. Here’s how:

  1. Navigate to the Gear, icon, then select Audit log.
  2. Use the fields to choose the appropriate UserDate Changed, or Events filter to narrow the results.

For more information on item types and how they help categorize products and services for better tracking, you can refer to this article: Change product and service item types in QuickBooks Online.

To get advice on how to manage your inventory assets in QBO, check out this article: Set up and track your inventory in QBO.

Let me know if there's anything else you need help with or additional concerns about the products and services in QBO. I'm always here to help you anytime. Take care and keep safe!
