Is there a way to override number of words on a template?

Need to add edit to my estimate template -- more than the 440 digits allowed -- any way to OVERRIDE this? (I currently use an addedum -- it is tedious and customers won't send it back.)

Hi there, @carol107.

Good news! In QuickBooks Online (QBO), you have the option to customize your Estimate template.

If you'd want to personalize the information on your estimate template, you can do so by following the steps below:

  1. Click the Gear icon at the top.
  2. Select Custom form styles.
  3. Locate and select the estimate template by clicking the Edit link under the Action column.
  4. Go to the Content tab and select the headertable, or footer on the sample form to start editing that section.
  5. Click Done
  6. Go to the Emails tab if you'd want to personalize your email message.
  7. Edit the message you need.
  8. Click Done.

After that, try creating an estimate to see the changes. And ensure to select the Estimate template you've customized.

To learn more about personalizing your templates based on the information you need, see this article for more details: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, you can create your template and import it in QBO. For more information, here's a resource that you can read: Import custom from styles for invoices or estimates.

Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions or I can be of additional assistance. I'll be here to help. Have a great day.

well, you can customize it for sure -- but you cannot override the 1000 characters.  I called QB --  you cannot.

SO,  I did find a way to do a link to a google doc for my customers to read our rules to our agreements. Not the best, and I'm very disappointed I cannot do what I NEEDED TO, but this does help legally -- i hope!

well, yes and know.  You can customize.  You CANNOT override the number of max. characters -- something I needed to do terribly to legally complete our ad agreements.

The rep at QB suggested a google doc link to our rules and agreement -- better than 0 -- and hopefully fulfills legal requirements -- but NOT OK that I cannot make this work for me.
