Is there a way to search for something within a report?

Within hundreds of lines of data (that does not sort in the way the report is set to sort by) is it possible to do a search so you can drill in to the transaction?  It is not useful to export to excel to find the transaction because once you export to excel you cannot drill into the transaction.

Hi there, @KP512.

I'd be happy to share information about running the report you need.

In QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), you can filter the reports based on the information you want to show by using the customization feature. In your case, you can set it to choose a specific transaction type, add or delete columns, add or remove information on the header/footer, and even personalize the font and style of the report.

To do this, here's how:

  1. Open the report you need.
  2. On the Report window, click the Customize Report button.
  3. On the Modify Report window, go to the tab/s you need to update.
  4. Once done, select OK.

For more details about this process, see this article: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

Thanks for replying.  Not really the answer I was looking for.  To have to change the filter for everything you want to find is a lot of extra work.  It is not a matter of searching for the same thing all the time.  When I look at a report in excel with a lot of transactions and I want to find a few transactions to drill into, going back and changing the filter for each single instance is not very efficient.  With all the hype I have heard about QuickBooks I had higher expectations.  Thanks for letting me know.
