Hello,
Has the feature to add a [Project Name] as a custom field on an invoice been added?
Thank you.
We really need the option of project names on statements, or the ability to create a statement for a project.
The QBO statement options are very limited. Every time I send one out, I get questions about which project the invoice was for so they can easily route the statement. The customers that don't ask, put the email aside until they find the time to look up the invoice number. This causes a delay and is often forgotten about.
I agree with others that have responded. It seems like an easy coding fix, and would be extremely beneficial to your QBO users.
Hi, @davekerrarch. I appreciate your time posting here in the Community.
I understand how the ability to create a statement for a project is beneficial to your business. Currently, this option is still unavailable in QuickBooks Online.
For now, it's best to relay your feedback to our Product Development team. Your voice matters, so we'd love to hear your input. This helps our engineers review your suggestion.
Here's how:
To get updates about the status of your feedback, you may visit the Customer Feedback page.
For future reference, you may also want to read this article to learn how to send statements to show customers summaries of their invoices: Create and view customer statements.
Know that you can always post your concerns here. Feel free to leave a comment below if you have any other QuickBooks-related concerns. The Community has your back.
Stay safe and enjoy the rest of your week!
This feature (adding the Project name on the invoice or statement) as well as the ability to CUSTOMIZE the STATEMENT formatting are features that are LONG, LONG overdue!!
Is Intuit even working on it???
PLEASE, PLEASE...the accounting community really needs these features!!
Nearly 5 years have passed since this request was made. It is essential that there is an ability to list the sub-customer or project name on invoices and statements. I also don't see what is complicated about adding a checkbox to allow this information that is already in QB to be displayed in the heading of invoices and statements. This would allow consistency, clarity, efficiency, fewer questions from the customer.
Please, please, PLEASE add this functionality that has existed in QB desktop for decades.
Hi mexcanuck56 and purplepine,
I understand your frustration with the absence of having a project name on invoices feature in QuickBooks despite its importance for clarity and efficiency.
I encourage you to continue submitting feedback so that our engineers are aware of the strong user demand for this option. This will help them make enhancements in future updates to better meet the needs of our users.
Feel free to go back to this thread if you have other questions in mind. Take care and have a good one.
If you understood the frustration, you would also understand that telling people to submit feedback is just as frustrating. This issue has been going on for years. You don't care about feedback. The desktop program easily includes the project name on the invoice. How are we supposed to get people to "upgrade" to QBO if even the Advanced edition doesn't have the same features as the basic desktop program?
they keep increasing the price
It is very frustrating that this tread started in over 5 years ago and it still has not been fixed. Now QuickBooks is pretty much forcing people to go to Online and it doesn't have all the features they need. QuickBooks online is suppose to be better for Project & Job Tracking. Please update your invoice templates to include the name of the Job. As many of my clients and I am sure many of your customers, have customers with multiple Jobs/Projects at one time. As a ProAdvisor and public accountant it is very frustrating to me and my clients.
Hello there, stewart.
I understand the urgency of this matter. I'll share information about project and job tracking in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Since the option to have a project name on invoices feature in QuickBooks is currently unavailable. You'll want to send feedback to our product development team regarding this option. That way, they can study further about it and may add it to future product updates.
Here's how:
You can visit our QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website to track the status of your submitted feedback.
As a workaround, you can manually include projects and jobs in the sales forms using the memo, description and custom fields while waiting for the feature to be available.
I'm leaving these articles for future reference in managing projects, sub-customers to projects and pulling up reports:
Please reply to this thread if you have follow-up questions and suggestions to help the product improve it's experience. I'm always around to help.
I did that SEVERAL YEARS (yes, years) ago! Still waiting.... Not sure what function the project module has if I cannot show the project name on the invoices and statements.
