Welcome to the Community space, billing72.

When processing a customer credit card payment, entering bank details is required. That way, they can pay their invoice online.

To set up their billing information, here's how:

  1. Go to the Sales menu.
  2. Click the Customers tab.
  3. Locate and select your customer.
  4. Click Edit.
  5. In your Customer profile, select the Payments and billing tab.
  6. Select Credit Card from the Preferred payment method drop-down menu.
  7. Enter the needed information and click save when done.

@billing72

You need to have an ecommerce platform to let customers submit their own CC credential. Another option, ask your customers to create a MP account for free. They can pay your invoice with credit cards and you will get paid by check or bank transfer for free.

The questions my team are trying to get answered are:

1) How can we take credit card payments inside a QB online invoice. You're saying I have to sing up for some 3rd party system now? I already have Authorize.net

2) I have lots of customers who have auto-charged monthly bills through Authorize.net

I don't like that auth.net makes me collect their card details manually then manually input them into their system. I was hoping QB had a way for me to securely let them enter their own CC details, THEN have me turn that charge into a monthly recurring.

3) Is it possible to see the full CC details (entire number) on an invoice somone submits via QB?

Explore the following billing and subscription app as the connector for Auth.net and QBO

Is there a way for a customer to save their CC  from an invoice sent from Quickbooks Desktop without creating their own QB account?  I ran a test by sending an invoice to myself.  The Pay Online link sends me to QB web site but to save my CC, I have to create an account.  We don't want to ask our customers to go through that much trouble.  I've looked at my desktop app under a customer file, and no option appears available for me to allow them to save CC.  I've also searched in our QB Merchant Services account for an option to allow.  I must be missing something.

Hello, Marlohaus.

When processing a customer credit card, they need to have an QuickBooks Account. That way, they can save and pay their invoice online.

To do this, you can open your customer profile and add their credit card information from there. Before doing so, connect your payment account to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account. This way, your customer's info will be saved, and they can also pay their invoices online.

Here are the steps that you'll need to take:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Account and Settings
  3. Click the Payments tab and hit on Lean more.
  4. You may now start your set up. Choose QuickBooks Payments.
  5. In the window, select the QuickBooks Payment account you want to connect. Then select Connect.
  6. Review the account info and make sure it's accurate. If everything looks good, select Connect.
  7. When the connection is finished, sign out and sign back into QuickBooks Online for the changes to take effect.

You can read this article for more details: Connect your QuickBooks Payments account to QuickBooks Online

Once done, you can now add your customers' credit card information into their profile. You can refer to these steps below:

  1. Go to the Sales menu.
  2. Click the Customers tab.
  3. Locate and select your customer and click Edit.
  4. In your Customer profile select the Payments and billing tab.
  5. Select Credit Card from the Preferred payment method drop-down menu.
  6. Enter the needed information and click Save when done.

I got you these great articles that you can read as a reference in processing a credit card payment from your customer:

@Marlohaus

Afaik, QP Payment doesn't offer any payment portal feature. That's why your client has to create an account to proceed.
