My invoice template has changed. I need the old template back.

Hi there, @userrichard.

I understand this is new to your end and how crucial it is for you to use the old invoice template. To switch back to the old invoice layout in QuickBooks Online (QBO), please perform the steps below:

  1. Go to the New button.
  2. Select Invoice.
  3. In the upper-right corner, click the Old Layout button.
  4. Then, Leave

Please note that switching to the old invoice layout in QBO is only available to selected users. If you do not have the option to switch to the old invoice layout, we recommend providing feedback. It would be helpful if you could send your suggestions directly to our Product Development Team. They might consider and include your ideas in future updates to improve the customer experience.

Here's how you can do it from the invoice page:

  1. In the QBO mobile app, click on Menu.
  2. Choose and open an invoice, then tap the three-dot icon.
  3. Select Feedback, then enter your product improvement ideas or concerns.
  4. Tap Send Feedback to submit.

Moreover, you can personalize your invoices to improve your business communication with the guide of this article:

Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Feel free to leave a comment below if you have any concerns regarding the invoice in QuickBooks Online. Keep Safe!

Welcome to the Community space, @User.

Let me share some insights about switching from the new invoice layout to the old one in QuickBooks Online.

If you are currently using QuickBooks Online Simple Start, you will be switched automatically to the new invoice system without an option to opt-out. This means that you won't be able to revert to the old invoice system once the migration has occurred.

In case, you want to switch to the old invoice layout using Simple Start, I recommend sending feedback to our Developer Team. This way, they can see your request and consider it for the next program update.

Here's how:

  1. Access your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Click the Gear icon on the top right corner of the screen.
  3. Under the Profile column, select Feedback.
  4. Enter a brief description of your feature request.
  5. Once you're ready, press Send.

Moreover, I'm adding this helpful article as your reference in managing your invoice payments and other sales forms: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Come back to this post if you have other concerns and follow-up questions about invoice layout in QBO. I'll be here to lend a helping hand.

Hi! I need help to get this old layout again. There's no option on the upper right hand corner to revert to old layout.

Hello there, CSJULIAN. I see that you want to switch back to the old invoice layout. Allow me to provide up-to-date information about this matter.

Beginning May 6, 2024, all users will be moving to a new interface that has a modern design. This layout will permanently replace the old one, and switching back isn't possible. However, rest assured that your previous information will remain accessible even after you migrate to the latest design.

You can read the frequently asked questions about invoices and estimates to learn more about this transition.

Moreover, to maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, record any payments received so your invoices will be marked as paid.

The resources provided above are bound to prove useful and enlightening. It will also enable you to stay up-to-date with the latest features. If you need additional assistance, I'm always here to lend a hand.

I understand the "urge" to update to newer layout, but simplicity is the king. The new layout has a lot of issues, for once, we can't add shipping cost, when it does, it doesn't show up upon printing. Such a hassle to use this "new" version

Look at this, no option to add shipping fee.

Good morning, @CSJULIANCHANG.

Thanks for following along and sharing your concerns.

To add a shipping fee, click on the slide bar next to the shipping fee option. You can reference my screenshot below.

To add an amount for shipping, you can click on the $0.00 amount to edit it.

That should do the trick. If you are running into issues, please don't hesitate to let me know. I'm here if you have any additional questions or concerns. Take care!

You see, it's unclickable on my end. I can't click the toggle switch for shipping fee

Hello there, @CSJULIANCHANG.

Let me chime into this thread and provide some ways how you can toggle the switch on for the shipping fee.

Firstly, the reason why you're unable to click it is because you might have limited access. Therefore, you can have your primary admin to turn it on.

If you want to be the Primary admin, you can request the admin to transfer the rights to you. You can then log in as the primary contact and make the changes.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online as the current primary admin. If you can’t sign in, you can recover your user ID or password.
  2. On the upper right corner, look for the Gear icon.
  3. Select Manage users.
  4. Find the user you want to make the primary admin.
  5. In the User Type column, ensure that they're listed as Admin. If they’re not, click Edit to change their role to admin.
  6. In the Action section, choose the small arrow dropdown. Then, select Make primary admin.
  7. Choose Make primary admin again to confirm the change.
  8. Sign out of QuickBooks.

Furthermore, you can check this article to see different user types and their levels of access in QuickBooks Online: User types and user permissions in QuickBooks Online.

I'll always be around any time you require additional assistance managing your invoice or how QuickBooks works. Let me know in this thread so I can further back you up. Keep safe, and have a great one.

HI! Thank you for your prompt response. Yes, shipping is on. We even tried to toggle it off and back on. Still the same.

Let's proceed in troubleshooting your browser to fix the grayed-out shipping fee button, Julian. Let me guide you through the process.

To fix this unusual behavior of the program, log in to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account on an incognito or private browser window using these keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

Then, try to toggle the Shipping fee button. If it's successful, clear your browser's cache to remove specific issues and help the program run efficiently. Also, you can use other devices and supported browsers to ensure everything works as expected.

If the button is still grayed out, please contact our support team to further investigate the issue with the shipping fee button.

Additionally, you can refer to this article about receiving customer payments: Record invoice payments in QuickBooks Online.

Let us know if you have other concerns with your shipping fee in QBO. We'll be here to help you in any way we can.
