Anyone else want to join a class action suit against QB for false advertising???
I am now seeing that the issues I am reporting were present before we purchased quickbooks. How dare they advertise a feature knowing it doesn't work correctly? That is so wrong.
THIS IS ACCOUNTING SOFTWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!
QB, you advertise the crap out of project costing. IT DOES NOT WORK.
I have called multiple times. SPENT HOURS on calls sometimes until 9pm at night. I have left feedback. I have escalated.
Our books are so screwed up now in regards to cost on jobs- we can't even run reports. Now I am being told again that there is an investigation and they will give me an update in two weeks. Unacceptable. Every week, payroll is run and more fake data is being reported.
VERIFIED: Time of projects correct in Timesheets, exports file shows correct time allocated to named projects.
HOWEVER...
1. Does not always come over to payroll with project data- just empty
2. Show payroll costs for a project but wrong project- doesn't match the timesheet. Currently, I have several projects payroll reporting all to two projects. One project shows 28,000K for payroll when it should be about 7K.
3. If I change costing reporting toggle over to Timesheets vs Payroll, it shows all negative profit margin because it shows triple and and sometimes quadruple entries on timesheets. So it shows Kenneth worked 262 hours in one week. NOT! I reported that one back in February. and....wait for it....NOTHING was done.
4. We were told the transaction report is working as designed but it gives false representation of costs on a project. It shows the entire transaction for an expense, bill or payroll check in the transaction line and if you print the transaction page- same.
THIS IS NOT THE COST OF THE PROJECT. I should not have to drill down into every transaction to see actual costs. THERE IS A TON OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ON HERE.
Oh... And if you tell me again that I have to create four separate bills for one invoice for product bought at the same place but for four projects as a workaround....you have lost your ever lovin mind. That is not a workaround. It makes the biggest mess. All of your workarounds involve ridiculous extra manual inputs...just laughable at this point.
And technically not a workaround. Still shows entire paycheck as costs even when only partial of it went to that paycheck. I have no control over payroll data.
So to date, we cannot project cost a single project with accuracy. This is a major fail for accounting software that we spend close to 5K a year for. We are done. We will not just take it because you are the big guy. There are dozens if not hundreds of small companies at their wits end with your broken product.
FIX OUR DATA. FIX YOUR SOFTWARE. QUIT ADVERTISING THAT IT WORKS!
I agree. Have you received any type of response? I did not purchase this project to manually input every employees correct cost for overtime and overhead for every single day of the week. The Project costing does not work correctly. Please QuickBooks, make this a priority!
Hello, I am currently at QuickBooks Connect in Las Vegas and have explained this issue to a “Head of Engineering” who never heard of this issue.
We shared contact information and he will be getting back to me on this issue.
I am a QBO ProAdvisor for the construction industry, so I support a number of clients and I am only having this issue in one account.
If you would like me to share my communications.
Email not allowed in posting so search “[Removed] CCIFP” and you will find my Linkedin Page
Please let me know the following:
What version of QBO are you using?
How long you have had this issue?
Where are you entering payroll? Timesheets in QBO, Timesheets in “TSheets”? etc.
Hello -
We are also a construction company and I am beyond frustrated with the job costing abilities. Just recently discovered that a large portion of my payroll costs rare not being mapped to a job. We are also done with QB for out company. Do you have any other recommendations for a construction software. QB cannot handle the type of reporting and costing we need to do to track our projects. I am so so annoyed.
We are a construction company and agree with the original post. We are actively looking for another software to use because QB cannot handle project costing. There must have been a recent change because all of a sudden my payroll costs are not accurately going to the right project, instead they are 'not specified'. AAAARRRGGGHHHH this is so frustrating and we cannot run a business like this. Buh-bye QB!!!
I understand how this situation has caused you, Krisabitz. I want to ensure this matter is addressed quickly so that your payroll costs are allocated accurately to the right project.
To accurately reflect payroll costs for the respective projects, ensure that the timesheets used when running payroll are the same ones linked to your employees and projects.
Once you've checked that the timesheet is linked properly, but the issue persists, we can perform basic troubleshooting steps to rectify it.
Here are the keyboard shortcuts:
If this works, return to your regular browser and clear your cache. Often, the accumulated cache and cookies in the system can become outdated or corrupted, leading to unexpected behaviors.
If the issue continues after following all the troubleshooting steps, I recommend contacting our technical support. Our expert team has the necessary tools and can arrange a screen-sharing session to check why the payroll costs were tagged as not specified and are not accurately going to the right project.
