I'd be glad to help keep your QuickBooks Online run smoothly, sga3.

For the best performance, it's generally recommended to use Google Chrome. If the issue persists, you might want to close other open programs or browser tabs that you are not currently using to speed up QuickBooks Online.

Each program or tab in your search engine uses your system's resources, and if too many are open, this can cause QuickBooks to run slowly.

However, if it's still running slow, we can do some of the basic troubleshooting steps by accessing your account in a private window.

Here's how:

  • Google Chrome: Press CTRL + Shift + N.
  • Safari: Press Command + Shift + N.
  • Mozilla Firefox: Press CTRL + Shift + P.

Once signed in, open an invoice from there. If it rectifies the issue, go back to your main browser and clear its cache to remove the portal's history. You may also try accessing your account using another supported browser.

Additionally, you can visit the following write-up: Sales and customers. This will provide you links on how to manage your company income as well as sales invoice.

I'm only a post away if I can be of additional assistance or need more help with QuickBooks invoices. I'll be around to keep helping. Wishing you a wonderful rest of the week.

Hello @sga3,

Thank you for letting us know how exactly is the browser problem you received. Let's continue our troubleshooting steps so you can create and save invoices successfully.

To start with, let's consider logging in to your QuickBooks Online account using a private or incognito window so we can isolate this issue. You can do so by tapping the following shortcut keys on Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N.

If this works, consider clearing again the regular browser's cache so the system can start fresh. But if you get the same results while using a private browser, use a different browser app instead.

Additionally, I've also included this reference for a compilation of articles you can use while working with us: Invoice and Payments for QuickBooks Online.

If you have any other questions, please let me know in the comments below. I'll be here to lend a hand.

Thank you so much.  It was the cache that needed to be cleared.  I am so upset with myself for not having asked this question before, I wasted so much time with the slow system.  It was quite an easy fix.  Thank you Rose!

Unfortunately, my problem is back again.  Cleared the cache on Chrome again today, but I am having the same problem again.  I go to a customer's page and then open an invoice.  I wait. Then the system hangs.  I cannot do anything.

Other times the invoice will open, however, I notice that although the invoice is opened, the customer name field on the upper left of the invoice is blank, but the rest of the screen is filled in with the customer's info & invoice info.  When I try to save, it tells me I need to select a customer first.  (I usually select a different customer and then back to the customer I was working on, fortunately it doesn't refresh the screen, and I am able to save.)

Wondering if you have heard of this before.

Thanks,

Good morning,

I did as you suggested and ran Quickbooks in a private browser and it worked well - no waiting, no hangups.  So I went back to a regular Chrome browser and cleared the cache.  I am embarassed to say this, but ........ at the top of the screen when you are clearing the cache, is a box where you indicate the TIME RANGE you want clear!  I never noticed this before.  You know what the default choice is?  THE LAST HOUR.  That's it!

So I cleared the complete cache (all time).  That solved it.

Best,

Ellen

i dont think it can handle large databases, they should just say if this is the problem and not allow business that needs lot of data to use their service instead of given them a ridiculously limited one, going through issues 10x worse than this and no one is solving in on their end!!

I'm having the same issue since last Friday. When we click on customer invoice, it's slow to open, then it's slow to be able to move around in it and it's slow to save and send. I called Monday morning, Tuesday afternoon & no fix! It's been going on since last Friday! I'm so frustrated because it's impossible to invoice our customers or create new invoices! They need to move this to the top of their priority to fix or I'm finding a new database to use and transfer all our information over at the start of 2023!

I wish you didn't have to experience all that, EliteFence2003.

At Intuit, we take performance seriously. Speed issues in QuickBooks Online could be browser-related. The outdated stored cache can affect the program.

Let's try to create an invoice via a private window. Doing so helps us determine if there's an issue with the browser.

Here are the keyboard shortcuts:

  • Safari: Command + Shift + N
  • Google Chrome: CTRL + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge: CTRL + Shift + P

If it works, I'd suggest clearing the browser's cache to ensure the program performs efficiently.

You can also use other supported browsers if private browsing doesn't work.

For more info about improving the program's performance, please see this article: QuickBooks Online is Slow.

If none of these fixes the issue, I'd recommend contacting our QuickBooks Support Team again. I understand you've reached out to them, but they have the tools to investigate its cause.

Additionally, I've added an article that'll help you personalize your sales forms to specific info that matters most to your business: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts.

I appreciate your understanding on this matter. Please keep us posted if you need additional assistance tracking and managing your invoice and payments. We're always here to help.

I am having the same exact issue.  It started last Thursday or Friday.  I have tried Chrome with zero other tabs open, Chrome Incognito, I've cleared my cache and cookies twice, restarted my computer, checked my internet speed, etc.  I've tried everything suggested on this thread.  Nothing has helped.

This is NOT a browser, computer, or internet problem.  This is a Quickbooks Online problem.  And honestly, Intuit charges FAR too much for a service this poor, and no way to get help.  Those of us looking for help get generic answers about our browsers, but this time, that's not the problem.

It's embarrassing to be on the phone with a customer and have to make them wait a full 60-90 seconds for me to open their invoice and answer the question they have (and this is with me already logged into QBO - it takes that long for an invoice to open AFTER I've clicked on the invoice).

This is terrible - please, please fix it!

Same, QuickBooks crashes without saving invoices wasting an enormous amount of time, started 2 months ago, have no files on my computer, nothing else running and new modem, still happening. It used to work fine. Have tried everything, currently hate the QuickBooks program and would not recommend it to anyone. Looking for new accounting software.
