Schedule Report Setup

I am trying to setup a scheduled report to be emailed weekly and I'm running into a few issues.  At the final step of creating the scheduled report a window pops up with the title Preferences Conflict.

"A setting in your QuickBooks preferences is blocking scheduled reports.  To proceed: 1. Select Preferences > General > My Preferences and uncheck Keep QuickBooks running for quick startups.  2.  Exit QuickBooks, right-click QuickBooks, and select Run as administrator.

I don't have the option in #1.  I am using desktop Premier 2020.  Also, when I attempt to run QB as administrator it cannot locate the company files which are on a server.

Any thoughts?  Thanks in advance.

I can show you how to fix blocked scheduled reports, boss429.

If a report has failed to send, QuickBooks will continue to attempt to email it every hour until successful. Aside from verifying the email, there are a couple of requirements that should be met to ensure that your report will be sent at the scheduled time.

First, ensure that the company file is in single-user mode. Then, you have downloaded and installed QuickBooks to the latest release. Also, from the message you got, make sure that the Keep QuickBooks running for quick startups option is turned off. Let me show you how:

  1. Select Edit from the menu bar.
  2. Choose Preferences.
  3. Go to General, then click the My Preferences tab.
  4. Uncheck the Keep QuickBooks running for quick startup box.

If the issue persists after performing the procedures above, I recommend running the Verify and Rebuild Data utilities to further isolate the issue.

Schedule Report Setup

Thanks but as stated I do not have the option to uncheck box Keep QuickBooks Running for quick startup.  I have ran the verify data utility and no problems were found.

Another thing, when running the program as an administrator QB can no longer locate the company file on the mapped drive.  The company file is on a server.

Let's make sure you'll be able to fix QuickBooks running for quick startup, boss429.

Sometimes, you'll have to protect your file from data loss by creating a backup copy of your company file before uninstalling it. To create one, you follow the steps below:

  1. From the File menu, select Back Up Data.
  2. Specify the backup location:
    1. To back up to the default folder on the local hard drive, select Default Location.
    2. To back up to a network drive or removable media, select Specify Alternate Location and enter the path or browse to the backup location and enter a file name.
  3. Click Backup then Finish.

Please know that uninstalling QuickBooks won't delete the company file saved to your computer. It will only remove the QuickBooks application. However, as a precaution, it’s always a good idea to create a local backup.

Once done, you can uninstall and reinstall QuickBooks to fix issues with your computer. To uninstall, I have the steps provided below:

  1. Open the Windows Start menu. Search for “Control Panel”, then open Control Panel.
  2. Select Programs and Features or Uninstall a Program.
  3. From the list of programs, select the version of QuickBooks Desktop you want to uninstall.
  4. Select Uninstall/Change and then Remove.  Select Next.  If you don’t see this option, sign out and sign back into Windows as an admin (or a user with admin rights).

Then reinstall the software. If this didn't fix the issue, you can continue performing Solution 2 on this article: Clean Install QuickBooks Desktop. Additionally, to fix errors in QuickBooks Desktop, you can also read this article for your guide: Fix QuickBooks Desktop Install Errors.
