Hello community, i am setting up a church in qbo and want to know if anyone has chart of accounts template just for churches?

QBO has an available template for churches or religious organizations, mymobiletax-pros.

When setting up a new company file, you'll be given the option to choose a pre-created Chart of Accounts. If you did not choose from the given options, you can import a CSV template.

The available templates in QBO are organized by industry type. You can review the list to find the template for your company, and then download the file from the QuickBooks Online Excel import templates file.

Here's how:

  1. Open the following file to view a list of available templates: List of Chart of Accounts templates for QuickBooks Online companies.
  2. Scroll down to the Church or Religious Organizations section.
  3. Open the following file and download the selected template from it: QuickBooks Online Excel Import templates.zip (56kb).

For the instructions to import your Chart of Accounts from Microsoft Excel, you can refer to this article: Import a chart of accounts.

Don't hesitate to get back to me if you have questions. Thanks for dropping by.

Hello mymobiletax-pros. Did you set up your church with QBO? How is it working out for you? We are looking to do the same thing but QBO seems to business oriented for church use. What do you think?

Not sure if this is the right forum for this question ... but here goes ...

somewhere I read, I think on here, that when acquiring software from TechSoup, one should NOT use their personal email address but rather an impersonal one representing your corporation.   I am just now trying to correct that error, and have created a new corporate generic email address on TechSoup to switch to.   However, did not want to do that unless I can also replicate the change onto my QBO site.

Thoughts?  recommended process?   I can ask this of Tech Soup as well, but it appears easy enough over there to make the switch, and it is really a timing question for over here ....

I'm here to help you today, AgThorn.

Before we start, are you trying to switch from TechSoup to QuickBooks Online? If you, there isn't a direct way of performing this process. You need to manually import lists to QuickBooks.

If you're setting up a church, you can follow the instructions provided by my colleague in this thread. Then, if you need to change the email address associated with your QuickBooks subscription, let me provide the steps:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online.
  2. Click your profile icon next to Settings , then Manage your Intuit Account.
  3. This opens the Intuit Account Manager.
  4. Click the Sign in & security menu.
  5. Select the Email Address section.
  6. Make your changes.
  7. When you're done, select Save.

I've added this link to learn more about this process: Change your email, user ID, or password for QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Online Accountant, and Qui....

If you need more assistance with setting up your QuickBooks account, you can contact our Live Support Team. Be sure to let the customer service representative that you have a TechSoup subscription.

Stay in touch if you need anything else. I'll be right here to provide the information you need.

No, I bought QB Online through TechSoup and they set it up (or tried to, your tech support corrected the company entry they tried to make for me).   So now I have a working copy of QBO that is renewable annually through TechSoup.

I did this as a 501c3 non-profit which TechSoup caters to.  My question is really one of linkage I guess.  I am advised that I should not have done this with a personal email, that I should have used a corporate email address, something generic .. not sure the why, but was pursuing making the switch.

Perhaps my question might be more directed to TechSoup, but the net result is that what and how my QBO is setup, right?  more importantly than who did it.   How easy is it for me to change the email address that my license is under?  Or better yet, if I just add the new corporate email address as a user, and start using that one and not my own, can  I make that user the owner or admin or primary user, and what does that entail?

Looks like, from your note, that it is not a big deal.  I will close the loop with TechSoup, relaying my intent so that I am doing this all above board with the minimum disruption.   Thanks
