Hi there, pathtosolace.
Welcome to the QuickBooks Community. I'll share steps to ensure that your invoices remain in date order.
I suggest going to the Invoices section and filter the Status to All and date option to set them as ascending or descending order. That way, the daily entry that you've entered are managed accurately.
Here's how:

That isn't the issue. The problem is that individual entries on the invoice need to be sorted by date. I put them on am invoice by date but they get reordered into a random sequence. For example:
5/1/21 service name
5/2/21 service name.
They start in order but when I go back into the invoice, they are out of order. For example:
5/2/21 service
5/6/21 service
Make better sense?
Thanks for getting back to us, pathtosolacev.
For now, the invoicing part of QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) is mainly used for creating invoices, sending them out to customers, and collecting payments. The program will also use the date that it was marked Paid as the payment date.

That still doesn't help. What I'm getting at is individual line items on my invoices are entered with a date; 6/01/21, then a description of what I did that day.. for some reason, the entries are getting shuffled. How do I fix this?

Get back to me if you have any additional questions with invoices. I'm just a post away.
I have the same issue - when I load up expenses onto an invoice they are out of order. I can drag them into the correct order on screed but when I hit save and preview the invoice they are all out of order again. Is there a fix for this or are they just loaded up in the order they are entered onto the system?
I want to ensure you're able to get your invoices in order, @timasson.
To start, let's perform some troubleshooting steps to fix this. There are times that the browser is full of frequently accessed page resources, which causes some errors or unusual responses. Let's start accessing your account using a different or a private browser. You can use either of these shortcut keys:
Once you have successfully added a hire date, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. This is done to speed up the process next time you do a transaction in QuickBooks Online. Also, an alternative way is to use other compatible browsers.
I've also attached some articles you can refer to for your future guidance and detailed steps in managing invoices:

I changed to the OLD LAYOUT, button at top of invoice. You will be asked questions, but trust me this worked for me. In the OLD LAYOUT you can move items around. Save it and then go back to the CURRENT LAYOUT and items will be in the correct order. I realize this is time consuming, but until GBO is undated to move items, I find a way for me, to make it work.
I’m having the same
problem from my iPhone!
All my invoices are in a random order and I have to manually search for them to mark
as paid
please could you help?
