Join nowHi there, @theotillotson. I'm here to provide information about your invoice template concern.
In QuickBooks Online (QBO), you'll have to manually change the messages for individual invoice templates. Changes made to the Message on invoice field of the template will be applied to all of the invoices transactions regardless of which template you use. For more details about this, please see this article: How to set up or change customer messages.
Additionally, here's a helpful guide you can check in modifying your sales forms templates in QBO: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.
Getting a list of your customers’ outstanding balances will help you determine how much still due and how long they’re past due are. You just simply need to run the accounts receivable aging report to have this data.
I'm always around if you have any other questions about your invoice template. I'm just a few clicks away to help. Have a good one.
Per QBO support, this is actually a known issue. These fields should be unique to each template.
