Yesterday we applied the update V34.od R9 to our desktops. We use Quickbooks Accountant Desktop 2024. With this update, the summarize balance sheet has drastically changed, and the fonts shift on the reports when drilling down or access the reports.
did anyone else have this issue and how can it be resolved?
Thanks
I can help you perform troubleshooting steps to resolve font displays in your Summarize Balance Sheet report, Pennes.
In QuickBooks Desktop, you can first check the display settings of the program to enable clearer font modifications. To do this:
You can refer to Steps 2 and 3 outlined in this reference for more detailed information: Fix screen issues in QuickBooks Desktop.
However, if the issue persist, let's run the Verify Rebuild Data tool to help resolve common issues in the program. Here's how:
Once everything looks good, you may want to export reports to Excel so you can efficiently modify specific details into your overall data.
I'll always be around on this thread for any additional queries when managing reports and display errors in your company file. Just let me know in the comments below. Keep safe!
Thanks. However you have misread the issue. There are two separate issues.
1-The summarized balance sheet now only shows total assets and total liabilites-2 lines, instead of summarized the categories like fixed assets, bank, other liabilities, etc
2- the fonts change on reports while the reports are being used. For example, a report for unpaid vendors starts at one font, if I drill down then return to the unpaid vendor report, the fonts are so small they are unreadable.
These two events occurred after the V34.od R9 was installed.
What is the issue?
I can see the importance of having an accurate and readable reports, @pennees. I’m here to share some update about the changes after the V34.od R9 update.
I want to inform you that following the recent R9 patch release, most customers using the 2024 Accountant Editions (both Premier and Enterprise) will soon have access to a new Zoom feature. This feature allows users to adjust font visibility in reports, addressing the font size issues you’ve encountered.
This behavior is a result of the rollout of this Zoom feature. We expect all eligible Accountant users to have access by the end of this week, enabling you to manage font sizes effectively.
On the other hand, if you do not see the Zoom feature, we can attempt a repair or reinstall of QuickBooks to ensure the update was installed properly as a workaround.
If the issues persist after that, I recommend reaching out to our QuickBooks Desktop Support team for a more in-depth investigation regarding this.
Additionally, here's an article to assist you down the line in saving a report's customization settings: Create, access and modify memorized reports.
If you have further questions about customizing reports in QBDT, don't hesitate to reach out. I'm here to assist you every step of the way.
I appreciate the feedback, however, this change is directly related to the V34.OD R9 update.
I have attached the before and after reports for the summarized Balance Sheet
I am looking for answers as to why this has occurred after applying the update.
BEFORE 100224 AFTER 100324 is attached

This issue is across all reports including the Income Statement. Whatever happened in the update you can no longer compress the reports to the high level lines and instead either get ALL the information or just the 2 lines.
Thanks for joining the Community and getting involved with this thread, MMAC1. I appreciate your detailed information.
Since you're noticing all reports show shifting fonts when viewing them, and they aren't all showing the same data you're used to each report displaying, I'd recommend performing some of the recommended troubleshooting mentioned by my colleagues above.
In the event none of our recommended troubleshooting processes help you to get reports to display like you'd prefer them to, you'll want to get in touch with our Customer Care team. There's currently two investigations (INV-112614 and INV-112833) which might relate to what you're encountering.
They can be reached while using QuickBooks.
Here's how:
Once you're connected with an agent, you'll be able to provide them with both investigation case numbers. They'll be able to pull up your account in a secure environment and conduct further research with you.
Be sure to review their support hours so you'll know when agents are available.
I've also included a detailed resource about working with Release 9 which may come in handy moving forward: Release notes for QuickBooks 2024
Please don't hesitate to send a reply if there's any additional questions. Have a wonderful Thursday!
Thank you. How will this fix the issue for collapsing financials? And will it address the switch of fonts from one size to another after a drill down in a report occurs?
Thanks
Thank you for following-up, pennees. I recognize your needs and understand how inconvinient it can be when your financial reports do not display correctly or when font sizes change unexpectedly during your workflow.
Regarding the issue with collapsing financial reports, our engineers are currently aware of this problem and are actively working on a solution. While I cannot provide a specific timeline for when this will be resolved, please know that our team is prioritizing it and intends to fix it as soon as possible.
As for the font size shifting issue, this is related to a new Zoom feature introduced with the R9 patch. Earlier this month, many users of the 2024 Accountant Editions have not yet had access to this feature, which is designed to improve font visibility in reports. The font size changes you're experiencing are a result of this rollout. Our developers have set a target date of October 8 for the full implementation of the Zoom feature.
If you don't see a zoom dropdown option by then, I recommend running a quick update and repair to ensure your software is up-to-date. Here are the articles for your convenience:
I appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through these issues, pennees. I'll keep an eye on this thread if you still have follow-up questions or concerns about reports. I'll be here to help and ensure your experience with QuickBooks is as smooth as possible.
Have there been any updates to the collapsing financial reports? Can we revert back the update so that we can pull the financial reports correctly until the issue is fixed?
