We have late fees setup however they're not showing up on overdue invoices. The invoices are still in an open status and setting was made prior to invoice being created.

We have a grace period of 30 days and the invoices in question are 32 days overdue, but no late fee has been applied.  The late fee setting was made prior to these invoices being created.  All invoices are in an open status.

@Kurt_M I'm having this exact same issue. I see that the original post by @accounting-calic was from July 5th. When can we expect this issue to be resolved? Based on your reply your development team was already aware of this issues and were working on a fix prior to @accounting-calic initial post and over 30 days later there issue is still persisting?

Is there an open INV- Number you can provide so customers can be added when they call Customer Service

I am still having this issue and I have called QBO support 3 times over the past 3 months and  no-one seems to know anything at QBO tech support.  I am losing money because late fees are NOT being applied to customers accounts automatically.

Late fees been working fine for months, suddenly, this week, after an update with QBO, late fees are not being applied automatically.

Hi there, @chimeraboo. I'll hop aboard and shed some insights into why the late fees are not applied automatically in QuickBooks.

You'll want to review the setup of your late fees and verify why it's not automatically applied to your invoices. Then, ensure that the Default charge applied to overdue invoices switch is turned on so the late fees will apply.

If you need to edit the default late fee settings, you may follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Gear icon ⚙, then select Account and Settings.
  2. Click Sales, then, in the Late Fees, tap Edit ✎.
  3. Make the changes you want, then hit Save.

Once you edit the default late fee settings, all the new late fees added to invoices will use the updated setting for their calculation. While the fees applied to previous overdue invoices will remain the same. For more details on managing your late fees in QuickBooks, open this article: Apply late fees to overdue invoices automatically in QuickBooks Online.

If the issue persists, I recommend reaching out to our support team. They have the tools to check your account securely and perform a screen-sharing session to pinpoint its root cause. Just go to the QuickBooks section of this article for more info: Contact Support.

In the meantime, you can manually add the late fees to your invoices and learn how to automatically or manually remind customers when the invoices are soon overdue: For the detailed steps, please see these articles:

You can also post here again if you have any additional QuickBooks-related concerns. It'll be my pleasure to guide you again. Stay safe!

Yes you have successfully repeated everything in the Online searches we have already known..   The issues is, IT DOES NOT WORK.   All those settings are correct and it does not work.   I have created a new QBO account and tested it, and late fees work just as they should, but not in my QBO account!!!

wow that is funny  you once again missed where I said I have contacted live support several times and that support is just as bad as this support.   No one at QBO cares to solved issues or knows anything..  I have had a case opened for almost a year on this and have called LIVE support MANY MANY times and wasted hours of my time and no one knows how to fix the issue..
