It can be that your stored cache files caused the error when creating your customer statement. We can perform a few troubleshooting steps to verify that.
Log in to QuickBooks and create a customer statement in a private browser. To open one, you can follow the keyboard shortcuts below:
If you can successfully create one, clear the cache of your main browser to eliminate excessive files. Also, ensure to use supported browsers.

Cache files are not the problem. Private windows in Safari and and Incognito windows in Chrome both give the same error message. Clearing the cache files in Chrome and Safari also did not solve the problem. I get the identical error message, and a zero balance.
What is the next step?
I figured it out. Even though there is an option to create statements in the drop-down menu for sub-customers, this seems to be non-functional. Statements can apparently only be created for top-level customers.
